My Friend Berry is doing a Ground Up Restoration and four foot stretch, I thought I would share some pictures.

The Front Cab replacement Air Conditioning unit finally solves the Poor Cab air. The Unit comes out of a 1990+ Ford Truck

I met Barry at the Dothan rally this past spring. He came over and looked at our stretch from one end to the other. He is an old stock car builder and racer and can fab almost anything that he needs. The new AC system is a great idea and should work well and is something that can easily be done when doing a coach remanufacture. I wish him well in his project and look forward in seeing it in the future at a GMCMI rally and looking at all the trick that he has done. More picture as the project moves further along would be great. I would be interested on how he does the front suspension.

Ambitious but cool project.  Looks like he won't be using the original dash.

Surprising enough the old dash would work, but you lose the glove compartment, but he plans to fabricate a new dash. I can’t wait to see how he does it. It is so cool sharing a shop with him.
I have learned so much in the last 6 months.

EXCEPTIONAL craftsmanship. PLEASE take lots and lots of photos. Barry and I had some really interesting discussion at Dothan. Wish I was closer.

Is he going to scratch build a tubular front clip using 1 ton upper and lower control arms??? He talked about that a bit.

He is still talking about it. I can;t wait to see what he does.
I told him he needed to make this Cab air mod a kit, so other people can do it. the only issues is you destroy the dash when you remove them.

Great work space.  Access on all four sides and good overhead clearance.

Looks like his fuse box is buried too.  I managed to remove my dash without destroying it but don't intend to put it back in.

Are those box frame rails?   At first I though they were the original channel rails teetering on those front jack stands.  What's the plan for body/frame isolation?

This looks more like a total remake than a ground up restoration with a stretch.

JP

I stop by his shop now and then, interesting guy (and Corvair junky). I
think this stretch was between the wheels, ie moved the bogie back? I
think that is the way to go. Anyway, Berry has a nice facility up there
in the Lexington area and caretakes some other GMC off season too.
