Gene. Looking at your blog spot. Are you saying the Golden Age passport gets you into Oregon state parks free ? If so you would still pay full fair for overnight camping correct?

Hey Roy;

I just came back from the Tillamook, OR area last week (on our way
back from Coos Bay) and we stayed at one of the State Parks (Sand
Lake) for 4 days. I used the Federal Senior Pass (I got at Arches
National Parks a couple of years ago) to get a 50% discount ($15 to
$7.50 per night) on the daily camping fee. I haven't used this pass to
get a free day pass into the Oregon State Parks, but I've been with
Gene when he has used his so I think it can be used.

Thanks Gary I never thought of using it at the Oregon state parks. I know it doesn't work at California state parks and it would be a big help there as they charge so much more then Oregon.

Just talked to my daughter who is working at the Oregon State Sunset Park
(near Coos Bay); she is working the check in/check out booth and she says
they are not accepting the Federal Senior Pass; no discounts at all for any
overnight spots. She will ask the ranger if the Oregon State day use parks
give discounts for the Senior Pass. So I wouldn't count on any discounts.
There is one benefit, no sales tax in Oregon. However, gas is always high
in the Coos Bay area; sometimes 50 cents per gallon higher than Florence.
