What is the best roof top air unit?
Who has the best pricing on them?

I have a single AC unit and a 4K generator so I'm looking at the 15000 BTU units.

Thanks

AdventureRV has a Dometic Brisk Air units on sale. They're only 13500 BTU, however.

Brian might get by with 13.5 if he stays near the Portland area. We have one center mounted but with our travels we need the 15. In 9 years it has been all we have needed in our 26 footer. But, others have needed more.

One of our destinations is Yuma Arizona, the 15K may not be enough there.

Brian, we have driven across Az. At 112 degrees. At the time we were headed to Applied GMC to get our dash air fixed. Our 15 k Coleman did the trick. Certainly did not freeze us out but kept us comfortable til we got to Barstow and a cool 96 degree night.

Brian, when traveling you can close off the bedroom if you don't need it cool. I never thought about this until after our hot trip in June of 07.

What are the dimensions of your new Dometic 15K? Is it a low profile? We're looking to replace our OEM AC roof air when it croaks and would like a 15K low profile as we pull in and out of a 9 foot overhead door on our storage barn. We can get in and out with the OEM unit but a couple of fewer inches would be awesome. We only have the one unit with a 5K generator and would like to stay with just a single unit, at least for now.

Thanks,

Drawing on the website says it's 12.5" tall not a low profile.

Brian,
Does that sale include the interior grill assembly?
Or will the old grill assembly fit the newer model air conditioner?

Regards,
Bill

The one I bought had the interior grill and I added the heat element for $46.00 Might be nice to have heat when I'm working on it in the winter. IIRC it was $605.00 before shipping.

I just checked out a friends 2006 Colman 13.5 today he said it kicks off on hot days. It is mounted on a 30 ft coachman mini and with 85 degree ambient temperatures it is working ok putting out 23 TD air across the evap coil with a cold suction line. What I did observe however was it doesn't have a compressor time delay circuit it only takes 30 seconds to restart the compressor after it is turned off. The compressor start circuit is on the cheap. The evap motor blower housing is made of stira foam , the condenser coil and evap coils are single row? It was actually running a rather hot liquid line at only 85 deg OSA. The total run amps is only a little better then our original a/c units and no better then my 1984 dutherm that has a rotary compressor. By the way I found a replacement motor to replace the bad one in this unit. I bought a 1993 unit that was a take off at my local Rv repair facility for $50 . It was money well spent now I also have a spare compressor. New isn't always better. The high efficiency units draw less power but the standard ones don't.

Mickey,

Google Dometic Brisk Air and you'll find their website that gives all the info about the units. I'd it for you but I just downloaded
152 emails to scan!

I installed two Dometic Brisk Air 13,500 units a couple of years ago. I did that for two reasons. When I take a shower I open the
bathroom door and clip it to the closet. I fire the rear unit up and within a couple of minutes it's really cool. When I get out of
the shower I like the blast of cold air all around me.

Second reason was because if we're in the middle of Arizona and the front unit craps out we have a backup (Project Apollo logic
applied). Yes, I can buy another one but not for $500. Tom and Marilyn lost the unit on their Avion and he paid a LOT more from
Camping World to get it replaced!

Tom, you willing to share what it cost you?

Regards,
Rob M.

Thanks Rob,

I'll have a look. Right now our OEM AC roof air is working fine but we just want to be prepared for when the day comes that we have to replace it. We'd sure like to find one that is low profile that works good. It seems like the manufacture of low profiles is not as common as it once was.
