Phillip Udel Said that he had a lead on a good replacement for the
water heater.

There is a 6 gallon Seaward, a marine water heater, that is a direct replacement for OEM. I found one very cheap from Jamestown distributors on the web and if you look around you'll probably find one in the $200-$250 range with free shipping, or a coupon for free shipping.

Had a good experience with Seaward's customer service (it's actually an American company) and the only thing they recommend that doesn't come with it is an anode. Don't spend any extra than the cheapest galvanized exterior. The interior tank that holds the water is not stainless steel no matter which version you pay for, so the upgrade to the exterior shell is not really necessary in an RV application.

Was a perfect replacement for my OEM, even though I had a type 2 and this looks like a type 1. I looked for a cheaper, non heat exchanger type house water heater, but couldn't find one I thought was satisfactory and would fit easily in the space available.

You can also switch to a gas on-demand, but the electric on ddemand heaters draw too much current for our application. Finally, if you want a stainless steel tank, call JimK and order the direct Type II replacement he has. Costs a little more, probably around $350 with shipping, but it will never go bad.

Thanks,
