I'm learning so much working on this coach, I never knew that you could
repair a 10" hole in the rear fender liner and mount a water heater with
Great stuff expanding foam, who would have thought...
Yesterday I found the electrical mod the PO had done to the water pump
circuit, Much better. GMC should have done it this way. Bundle of wires
wrapped around the RR bumper shock, when you need the water pump just
unwind and open the generator compartment and clip leads to the battery,
So much easier than cleaning the fuse holder to make it work
again...<sarcasm off>
So after getting the power to the water pump restored I added water to
the tank and fired it up to see if the water system works. Guess what, I
have one of these new flow through water heaters, oh wait isn't the
water supposed to stay inside the tank? <sarcasm off again> I got to get
that sarcasm switch fixed it keeps coming on by its self....
So it looks like a new water heater, I think I will go with the tank
less one several other members have gone with and mount it in the refer
compartment.
I got the Onan fired up, seems to run pretty good, a bit of smoke when
it first fires up and it has a bit of a knocking sound that seems to be
coming from the alternator section not the bottom end of the motor. I
might need to rebuild it but I'm going to hold off on that for now.
When I was underneath the front redoing the grounding straps I noticed
the engine is clean compared to the tranny and it has new clean not
rusted freeze plugs so the engine has been out and maybe rebuilt, Cool.
I also noticed that the driver seat is only bolted through the plywood
with only a standard size washer. is this normal or should there be some
more structure under there?
Any tips on getting the water heater out and the coolant lines rerouted?
Hope everyone had a great 4th.
