I didn't see a manual for this unit on bdub's page, is there a manual
available for it? or is it even worth trying to get running? Fan runs so
does compressor but no cooling, if I turn the thermostat all the way to
cool the compressor and fan bog way down like it's locking up.
Any Ideas?
Probably wouldnt take much to talk me into a new unit, this one sounds
like a hurricane inside the coach.
Thanks
Brian

I bought a 13,500 Dometic heat pump - cos Frady made me a deal on it. If you only have one unit, you might want to look at a 15,000 instead, mine is marginal when the coach is on asphalt facing the sun. I have to cover the windshield to hold 70 degrees parked in the Georgia Auigust heat. Two 13,500s would be good. I have yet to find a 'quiet' one, they all will have fan noise.

Ok, If I do replace the A/C who makes a good unit that has plenty of
cooling and is quiet?

That's what JimB chose for mine. These will start on Dometic's new suitcase inverter gensets so that's a plus for expanding you choices for your power drawer if/when the time comes.

Are you sure the compressor is starting? Sounds like it is 'bogging' the system as if it is not starting. Could just be a bad start capacitor or weathered connections on the push on faston terminals causing voltage drop under load. One is a cheap fix and second a very cheap fix. If not that then I'd replace unit. JWIWD.

Yes the compressor is running, you could hear it 1/4 mile away LOL. It
stops if I turn the control off then starts as I turn the control cooler
until about 3/4 of the way to coolest and that is where the compressor
stalls and bogs the fan down as well. The compressor never stops running
so I think it has no charge but I don't understand the stalling part of
it. I'm running it on shore power with a 100' 14 gauge cord so it could
be possible that it's just browning out, but if it has no charge how
would it?

I was looking at the Dometic 15,000 and it is rated for the same genset
requirements as the 13,500. Will the Onan 4K run it ok? it is over the
ratings required but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone has this combo.
I'm not sure if the heat pump version would do much for me a lot of the
places we will be staying won't have hook ups.

Nope not kidding, I plugged it in to start checking out the electrics
and failed to engage the brain before trying the AC. It was about 110
degrees in the coach when I thought hey maybe the AC works.........
Didn't think about it until I was typing that last post. I'll get a
bigger cord on it and see what happens. :(
You're kidding, right?
If not, then there's the first thing to fix. 100' for something in the
range of 20A should be bigger than #14 wire.
Cut the run to 50 feet AND go to a #12, OR go to a #10 cord.
Yes, it is probably "browning out" when the compressor starts to pump
some refrigerant.

Yes, try a larger cord before you do damage. I am assuming your Onan is not working, or you could fire that up. Our 74 has a 6k Onan and it is only used to run our 15,000 Coleman, center mounted. Works great and has always cooled our coach in all kinds of heat. It is noisy. When someone comes out with a 15k quiet one I will buy the sucker. Its funny that I don't notice the noise until I turn it off. We cool the coach on high speed then turn it to low to maintain it.
