A lot of us are using Duracool in the dash air.

Your rooftop AC will have a data plate stating which coolant was used. There is a variant of Duracool called Duracool 22a that will work.

I use Doracool in the dash air. No modifications, run cold and quiet.

The original house air is R22 I think. I don't know when it should be charged. Mine blows about 50 to 53 deg when its 85 out. It could probably do better. Don't know the spec.

It should never need charging unless there is a leak it is R22. With the fan on high the TD across the evap coil should be between 20-25 degrees F . Put a thermometer in the intake then put it in the discharge vent .

You really can't charge it. Everything is welded inside the steel tank. However, if there is a leak in a line it can be cut and reseated by brazing the end. R22 is the original refrigerant.
