Wonder if anyone came out to see the cars as they traveled down The Big Mighty Muddy this week. Drove the Vdub about 175 miles, round trip, chasing these guys to Paragould Wednesday. Quite a show. Will end up in Mobile this weekend.
Here is a link to a few shots I took:

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Dan. I only learned of The Great Race last year when I was visiting a GMC Nor'easter in New Hampshire. Brad had done TGR a couple or three times with a buddy and once with his son. He had some great stories. I hope to cross paths with it one day.

Richard, someone posted this at the Dothan Convention. That is how I found out it was coming here. We are just west of The River.
The Car Craft Street Machine Nationals are in DuQuoin right now, this weekend. Trying to get Teri to go with me over east of The River. No luck yet and I hate going alone. Grandkids are all busy.

I once owned an original 54 Imperial with factory AC 76K miles, ran like a dream and totally unrestored and dependable. A buddy and I were going to run the race until we found out how much it cost. By the time you get through with entry fees, rooms, food, fuel, etc, it is 20-30K.

Heck I could get a used Airstream for that Laughing

Watched the 88 surviving cars enter Vicksburg. Photographed all of them. Biggest surprise was the Auburn boat tail roadster and a Fiat Multiplia ( micro van). Very nice looking 68 Toronado also. Good crowd turnout, inspite of the 90 degree temperature. All the drivers looked "cooked", did not see any air conditioning in operation.
In 5 more years, we can sponsor a GMC Motorhome. Be a hoot o do it in GMC style and comfort. Any one up for the challenge?

Cars must be 45 years old or more and use original factory parts. THAT
might be a bit of a problem.

That red (maroon) '47 or '48 Buick is just like mine, except mine is green. I really would hate to think I had to drive mine cross country. I have no doubt it would make it with a new set of tires. I'm just not sure I would.

Enjoyed the pictures.

Thanks, Dan. We enjoyed your pictures and commentary. Just the type of
thing Bob and I would have done if presented with the same opportunity. We
did see some TGR cars in the road in '05 on our way to AK.

What about that ford speedster with the boat tail rear. It had split wishbones front and rear something a hot rodder would do when he took out the ford enclosed drive line and installed an open drive line?

Yea, I am not familiar with the rules but most of the big older cars had working air conditioners in them.
