Anthony,
I created this new message as I and probably other would be interested in 4 piston calipers for our GMC's.
Where did you get four piston calipers for your Eldo?
How do they attach to the front knuckles?
Regards,
Rob

I recently had a no brake situation, it was the cover leaking fluid out everytime the brakes were applied so after about 10 stops
the pedal went "Away".It also seen a bit of water. New lid, new fliud a few pumps on the pedal and been good ever since.
All my rubber lines are relatively new but on my Eldo with the 4 piston calipers, when the rubber goes, it locks those babys right
up. The only way to move the car is to either cut the line or open the bleader and try to push all pistons back equally. Its almost
impossible. So change the rubber lines!

The 67/68 Eldorado was EXPENSIVE to make and of course to even try to buy.It is setup as an assembly. It has a giant roller bearing instead of the little taper jobs they went to in 69.The calipers are the same used on Fords,Lincolns,Mercurys,Olds and Caddy! It is/was Kelsey Hayes. It boiled down to value engineering and everything went to a single piston self centering caliper and the inexpensive bearing setup. The backing plate has a different mount so? .It does have incredible stopping power, but like I said
the bearing/rotor and hub are meant to be replaced as an assembly and was totally discontinued in 1972.I have to always keep #D1 bake pads on hand at all times as there is no replacement rotor. Most 67-8 Eldo owners change to 71-8 setups which are pretty much like the coach. All the aftermarket companies have cool stainless replacements that will bolt right on my car but that wheel bearing is $300 and takes a
Giant press to get out and I have blown away a couple bake plates trying in the past to get em out so,I just keep it all stock and use it daily and always keep an eye on it.

Anthony,
So the rotor floated on the roller bearings? That sounds expensive...

Anthony,
I got excited when I read 4 pot brakes and didn't remember that you're Eldo is a 67 and from looking at the photos of the calipers
uses a different knuckle than the '73 - 78 like our GMC's.
Thanks for taking the time to provide all the info but as far as I can tell we're stuck with a single pot caliper.
Regards,
Rob M.
