I hope this is not hijacking the thread but:
I have a 2003 Suburban that I had the AC System flushed, new compressor, dryer and valve. About a month later it quit cooling. The expansion valve has a substance that looks like whipped vasaline. If You touch the stuff it literally disappears
My AC shop calls it "Black Death" and says there is NOTHING that can be done without replacing EVERYTHING in the system.
Know one else knows what he is talking about but the system will not keep working because the stuff cloggs the expansion valve.
Will Duracool work , do You all think?

I would say it wasn't flushed properly .i assume you went from r12 to 134a? At the very least you will need to do a thorough Job of flushing and cleaning the entire system and installing a new dryer if you don't want to replace all the contaminated parts. Then you can use the dura cool with new oil.

Only problem is that us Canadian folk don't like the price we have to pay for Duracool. I see it in canadian Walmarts for approx $15 - $16 a can. I have also seen it in a few auto parts with a price tag over $22 a can.

I need to find a US supplier with a decent price that is willing to ship to NY.

I agree with Roy. This sounds like the typical problem with mixing the mineral oil from an R-12 system with the ester (synthetic) oil from a R-134 system.
They don't mix and can really gunk up a system.

If you change the drier and the expansion valve and flush out the lines, the evaporator and the condensor and the compressor with mineral spirits you can then put in the proper amount of mineral oil (see the GMC motorhome maintenance manual for the amount) and then use three 6 oz. cans of Duracool you should be able to recover the system.

I have a Canadian market year 2000 GMC Yukon XL "new body style"
(for the year 2000) The under hood label says the A/C came with R-134A so I would be surprised if a year 2003 Suburban for the U.S. market had R-12.
My 1999 Plymouth Mini van has R-134A (eh)

I want to charge my a/c with duracool, all I have is a 134 fill kit, what do I need to complete the task? What are 134 fill adapters and where can I find them?

I would suggest that you purchase the HC12a tuneup kit with the R-12 hose.
Here is one place
http://www.bennettsupply.net/cart/

I believe they will sell the hose separately.

134a fill adapters are really not needed for you GMC motorhome. You just want to get from the can which has the R134a screw on fitting to the R12 fitting on your low pressure line on the GMC.

Last year i bought a case of duracool and serviced three modern R134 vehicles with no problems. The duracool cans thread in to the R134 connectors from autozone/ advance

Dave,
Same here. All I did with the 134 system is bleed off the 124, then add
Duracool. I had to go to more pressure on the low side that Emery
recommends, but man, that AC blew cold. So cold in fact, that the
evaporator would freeze over. Had to add a touch more to prevent this.
The '55 Chevy I am finishing has an aftermarket AC system and I just
charged it with Duracool (Hc12a) and even in 90 plus temps, it blows quite
cold. (49 deg).

I vacuumed it out and added duracool, The esystems did not come on so i jumpered the clutch. THe compressor seemed to be doing it's job, no funny noises but no cooling either

I'm thinking something might be clogged.

I guess I'll order an orifice tube and dryer and some more duracool .

If I understand the process, you should jumper the compressor clutch while adding Duracool. It doesn't sound like your problem, though.

We stock so much parts that Nick and I have one heck of a time keeping on
top. Our fill rate is around 95%
We ship out on the same day unless they are on back order.
We have Duracool, as we have customers who demand them.
We are currently working on a automatic notice to customers the tracking #
and date shipped.
