Hello all,
When I looked at my 76 Birchaven last month, and subsequently purchased it, I was pleased as punch that it had seven beautiful Alcoas. Unfortunately only the spare is an Alcoa, the six on the ground are KMC wheels and are a clone of the classic Alcoas. The P.O. explained that these clones were cast aluminum instead of forged as the Alcoa wheels were. He seemed a little confused when I asked him if they were hub-centered wheels, but after explaining he said that he thought that they were (um, ok) and again pointed out that they are clones so they must be. hahaha
I haven't yet removed a wheel to check if this is true or not, but I will say that my test drive and 160 mile drive home that night was a smooth ride and gave no indications. I have searched the net to see if any of you fine folks have any experience with these on GMCs, but am coming up empty handed.
I believe these wheels were installed around 2002. This is before my GMC experiences began and I don't remember hearing anything about these wheels.
KMC apparently doesn't offer these any longer. Does anyone know anything about them?
As long as I continue to get a smooth ride and have no issues, I will continue to run with them. If/when I do, I will replace them with Eagles from Jim K.
Thanks and have a great week!

Guy,
They are more likely not hub centered as our hubsize is from the older 1970
models, so naturally, they make them to fit all.
I would advise you to keep them and use them as there will be other things
that will come up that you will need.

| If they are riding smooth, they are centered, doesn't matter if it is by hub or by lug. Mr. K says run them, and he would not steer you wrong.

I worked at Eagle as the maint. Manager, then at American Racing as the Production Manager, then KMC wheel in Riverside, Ca As the plant Manager, Nothing wrong with those wheels, The bit about "FORGED" wheel is a bit over drawn, Alcoas have had so many recalls, it is almost sad, A CPC wheel is a lot stronger than you think, and as for "HUB CENTER", in truth, that really only helps to install the wheel more than anything, look, many, and I mean many GMC and many other motor homes as well as Duallies have run NON hub centered for many , many years and never once had a problem.
Like the others said, you'll have plenty other things to spend money on and Jim K, is like a Candy store, Just run them, I mean, the last po did??????.
In fact, I have GMC's running KMC current wheels now, and "concept nippers, they are many dual wheel you can use, I do not understand why so many think ALCOAS, at double the cost, are the ticket, I am on my 3rd recall, hmmmmmmmm, I have yet to see a recall on the Eagles.
However, if you find ALCOAS and want to sell those KMC, please contact me, I got customers who will get them from you
