"Good day Mr. Boyd,
I am hoping you can point me in the right direction. I am looking at purchasing a 1974 GMC Sequoia. From my research, I understand it to be special and limited RV. I am looking at one in particular right now and would like to make a final purchase decision in the next day or two. The one thing I would like to know more about it the repair/maintenance aspects. I am getting conflicting information on this front. Do you know of anyone I can contact for more information on taking care of type of GMC (we will not be servicing/repairing ourselves)? I'd appreciate any assistance you could provide.
Kind Regards,
Christy Johnson"

Something about that language sets me off. It could be legitimate, or it
could be the first bit of a con job. I fell for a reply to a craigslist ad,
looking for someone to let me use their sidescan sonar for a few hours in
exchange for beer. Dude hit me up for expenses to get his unit out of
Pakistan or some crap like that. He didn't lay that on me until his SECOND
email though. The first one looked fine. This... something about the word
choice or grammar or something bothers me, but I can't say what. I also
can't imagine what a follow up scam opener would look like in this
context... unless they're trying to lay some groundwork to appear as a
legit customer before they make some ridiculous order and want to pay with
an oversized money order and please wire them the change thankyouverymuch.

Also, on the legit side, many women don't like to put contact info on the 'net because of the a$$hats who then hit on them.

She didn't ask for any financial info or your telephone#. She already has your email address. The only downside to responding is that you confirm that the email she has for you is valid. So perhaps a few more messages into your spam folder. OTOH if you fail to respond and she is bonafide, you've sent a negative message about you and the GMC forum of whatever she interprets.
Personally I think her email has enough specific information that it's unlikely a spammer would take that much time to target and research you, so If it were me I'd respond with some questions: How'd you get my email? How did you find your Sequoia and what shape is it in? What part of the country are you located in?

I'm so sure it's a scam that I wouldn't even respond.
I've received almost the same e-mail a couple of time except it wasn't a GMC it was a Classic Thunderbird.

Chuck,
I have to agree with Jay and Keith. You could put her in touch with one of the Jims. Hey, sometimes my working English doesn't come out just as perfect "Queen's English" .....heck I'm an retired engineer not an English teacher.
I have to laugh. ... some here want to be movers and shakers in the GMC world and when they have their first chance to maybe help someone who professes not to know much about GMCs they blow it off as a scam. I've helped steer newbes to someone who could help them in the past.

Since she obviously has your email and knows you're in the GMC world, I'd ask her where she is located and direct her appropriately to one of the vendors. I'd also suggest that she hold off making a purchase decision until she gets comfortable with what kind of maintenance issues she may face and the corresponding cost. Ultimately, she should have the coach inspected by the folks who are going to do the work. Otherwise they may be in for an expensive surprise. Finally, I'd ask here what kind of conflicting information she has heard and where she heard it from.
The grammar appears to be from someone who does not have English as a native language but that doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad actor. I had a similar email once that ended up buying an English Wheel from me. You never know. Until they start asking you to do something or give cash to their driver or asking for bank account info, I wouldn't sweat it. They can't do anything to you if you reply that they could not do today with only your email.

Too much information for scam unless the person is really good at it. If
it were a scam, then others on the GMCnet would have likely received
something within the same timeframe.
As other suggested, respond with questions. He who has the questions has
control.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right. Besides, can't get silk out of a
sow's ear. If it turns out to be a false request all you've lost is the
time you spent responding. Who knows, if you don't respond then a certain
guy in Indiana may get the next email.
As to the broken language, I get that all the time from my ESL students.
