There is a 78 Royale side bath listed on the GMC site via craigslist - N Dade City.
http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/rvs/3857783609.html
I have talked to the owner - it is not currently tagged, or I would have him take it to Jim B.
Is anyone familiar with this coach, or nearby to give it a once over and an impartial eye?
Thanks in Advance,
Joe

Joe, I've been featuring that one for a few months now. If it helps, it's been on the market at least since last December. I believe the asking price in Dec was $9k, and it's been dropping fairly steadily, though the rate of decent is flattening recently.
2013-01-16 - $8500
2013-02-01 - $8500
2013-03-29 - $8500
2013-04-18 - $7800
2013-04-28 - $6800
2013-05-04 - $6200
2013-06-08 - $6200
Hope that helps.

So how do you like the side bath Royale? Any gotchas to look out for with these? How does the 403 handle?
The PO gave me a list of warts, in context they are what you would expect. He seemed brutally honest, I guess six months of trying to sell will do that to you.

Well, Why have one 10,000 lb paperweight, When you can have two?
The Birch being down has got me to defining what I really need out of a coach. The Birch may not be big enough for the wife and I for anything more than one or two nights. It will make a dandy tailgating vehicle...if I ever get all of the systems functioning. Heh.
There is a local coach at a dealer for sale with a new engine that got this whole process started. It has been *ahem* modified from original *ahem* and is missing a lot of gear, but at least they want too much for it. Of course, now I am looking at money pits with tired engines because of where the furniture is...
I need professional help.

In short, I don't know. JimB is still rebuilding it. I *can* tell you that the dry bath's shower is almost too small to be used. I saw a better option at the co-op, where they converted a dry bath into a nice, large wet bath.
>How does the 403 handle?
No help there either. My Birchaven is a 455 and the Royale is a 455 koba.

Smaller than the dry bath in a Birch? The wife is not that much of an adventurer, the shower/toilet setup in a wet bath freaks her out...

I'm 6'5" and it was possible for me to shower in my 78 Royale dry bath. Possible but not practical. I could barely move. I think there still is a bar of soap that I dropped on the floor a couple of years ago.
If I could, I have a couple of observations about the coach: I could not tell the difference between the '78 403 and my current '76 455, but as you know it is more complicated than that...does the coach have fuel injection? What is the rear-end ratio? I liked the 403 equally as well as I like my 455.
Think through the floorplan. There is an awful lot of kitchen cabinet in the rear twin Royale...so much so that we felt we had no "living" area. Being as tall as I am, I was limited as to how far back my seat would go without modifying the long cabinet.
Just some thoughts.
