GMCMI, their parts list, and our vendors is what keeps our coach's on the road. Our DUES PAYING members are the ONES that are financing this team work. These GMC's are expensive, as any motor home is to keep rolling. So if you have a GMC. I see NO reason that you can't chip in, and help us with the dues. Do what ever with the parts list as long as it IS NOT available to none members. The dues paying members are the ones that are paying for the list to be there for us.This last month I spent over $8,000 at Jim K's. I've spent money with most of the vendors that attend, and donate to the R alley's. Jim K donates the most. Most of the time between $1,000, to $1,500. These vendors are far, honest, and give of their knowledge. I've only been screwed over once, BIG time by Chuck Stodered in I believe Ohio. That was 10 years ago. That I'll never forget. SUPPORT our vendors, and club. Bob Dunahugh

Bob,
There are some out there that has no clue as to why I can donate the larger
prises.
One person said that it was because I overcharge for my kits.
I can show that person what we spend for or kits.
I do not have the luxury of making up 30-50 kits at one time and sell it at
absolute cost.It takes funds to have designers and our people to work
testing, that others do not do, just claim.
Since we are an Automotive Jobber, we get promotional funds and other
consideration from our warehouse distributors.
We run the air filter side that we barrow funds from and use.
We are not a one man operation and have people in the office and full time
shipping and receiving clerk and 2 mechanics that know lot about the GMC MH.
We have a customer base that hits 4,000 so we must be doing something right.
If you notice, we supply parts from other vendors(Jim B,GeneD, Blane M,Jeff
S, Cliff G,JR S,Burt & Fay C, Angelo R, JR W,Ken H,Glen T,Dave L, Dick P,
Manny T, Ken F,Frank J
and more.
They all give us an discount so we can resell them.
Without their support, it would be hard to claim that we have everything.
Again without customers, we would still be making Air Filter Housings and
distributing airfilters.

Jim,
The "radio" shop the Roy Purchase ran in Ann Arbor for many decades had a sign behind the counter. That sign said,
Girls
Groceries
Gross Margin
If you can get the last one right then the other two are easy.
Both Roy and the shop are long gone, but I will always remember that sign.
I know you have some mark up, but I know what these parts cost and still have lots of connections for best price, but it is only worth my time to work that when I either something is too cheap to ship (like rear wheel bearing seals - if they are the right part) or I need it NOW.
Then there is other problem some miss. Even if I have a part number for a GMC part, (again, like a rear wheel seal) it is crap shoot that the part in the box will be correct.
Don't let the list bother you.
Those that know will still know who to call to get the right parts fast. - Grace or Nick

Lemme put this in another perspective. I sell (whore) my time to broadcasters, healing up their RF systems. I could spend that time researching parts for my GMC - those readily available anyway - but the savings where there are any don't come close to the value of the time spent. Where there aren't any, I can make, or buy from someone who has already made, found the weak spots, remade and stands behind the result. Again my time is worth more elsewhere. That's the logical look.
The illogical is, Kanomata, Bounds, et al are a wealth of information and fun to brain - pick. And Bounds at least appreciates good whiskey and an intelligent argument.
Past that, there's alqways AutoZone.

Eli the Ice Man-- that's pretty much it, today you can get numbers and even hook a bottom feeder who might have it for less-- as long as the metal in the part is not made of that questional dope from the east! It's not just that I really need the support but really, this is about the total experience, the sharing and support each of us give eachother. I have had disagreements but when it comes down to it we all still help eachother. So look, don;t feel ashamed buying spark plugs, wires and a dist cap from a local dealer-- that's everywhere-- when it comes to those other parts that's whay we are here and what we do for the community. That project needs everyones support to keep us all moving. Simple as that. If you called me for a spark plug, I would tell you to pick up Delco, Rapidfire #7 and gap them at 45 to always be safe. I would not ship a set of them, everyone needs to be realistic about this parts stuff.
Each unique person on this net have things to offer to us all, there is theory and there is real world experience. You need both to give you something to follow

My family are GMCMI members and have the list. If we have a non-GMCMI member come to one of our annual work rallies and we discover that he needs a part to fix his coach, are you saying that we should not use the Interchange list to find him a part number that he can buy at the O'Reilly a mile down the road?
What should we do, tell him to join GMCMI before we can help him with his problem? Or tell him that he can't fix his coach at our rally after he drove four or five hours to get here?

Jim
You do whatever you want to with that Parts Interchange. It's yours to do
with as you wish. Please share information from it with others and let them
know where you got it. Hopefully, those that receive your help will want to
become GMCMI members also, so that they can obtain their own annual updates.
We're all in this together. Just respect the copyright. That's all.

By all means help a fellow GMCer out. However, this does not mean to copy the entire list and pass it around. This may help out a few non-members, but for some people, this may be the only tangible benefit of GMC International.
We do not need a battle over helping others out, just a little awareness of the value of having GMC International membership.

If we have a non-GMCMI member come to one of our annual work rallies and we discover that he needs a part to fix his coach, are you saying that we should not use the Interchange list to find him a part number that he can buy at the O'Reilly a mile down the road?
