Well, whodathunkit.... Our local post office burned down last night. All the mail that was in the building was lost. We are getting lots of registrations by mail so if you recently sent your registration and payment via USPS please email us at glwork at mac dot com so we can check our records to see if yours has been received. There is now a temp post office set up so this would only effect those registrations which happen to be in the building last night. Sharon and I leave next Wed to retrieve our new-to-us Clasco in Florida so will be traveling most of the rest of the month of June. We can be reached via either of the two phone numbers below or via email while we are gone.

As a reminder, the weather on the central Oregon coast the first week in October is usually great and the fall colors can be spectacular. We have a very active happy hour team captained by the White Rock, BC, duo of Sharon and Dwayne Jacobson who will be providing some really special nightly events and the Saturday night BBQ team captained by Susan and Bob Clark of mule skinner fame has a trick or two up their collective sleeves as well. The two seminar tracks are being put together by some of our best west coast GMCers (Melissa Fisher and Nick Roenick) and Sunday will be a special media day with vendor demos (Gene Fisher leading that effort) in the morning and open houses (a bunch of folks working this one) in the afternoon. The breakfasts and dinners (save the one on on your own dinner and the Saturday night BBQ affair) will be catered by the hotel staff in the ball room so you don't have to sing for your supper here!

We are planning on bringing our new (to us) Clasco time machine that is now at JimB's so all can see what one of these looked like as it came out of the Clasco factory in the 90s. Jim picked it up a couple of days ago and was speechless on the phone after he saw it. He said it looks even better than it did the day it was new. Only 11K miles on the clock since then and has been in an air conditioned building ever since. He remembered the owner who brought it in and the owner remembered him so it was quite a reunion. We are also planning to bring our original coach as well. That one is in the process of getting a new engine (long story) and is a show case of what can be done to modernize a GMC. Everything underneath is new - one ton front end, 3.5 chain Manny trans, 3.21 final drive, 455 engine (we hope!), alum radiator, external engine and transmission fan assisted oil coolers, reaction arm disk brakes, etc. and everything inside is natural leather - wall panels, ceilin
g, seating, even the roman shades that cover all the windows. We will put that one up on blocks and pull the wheels so you can see what is possible and talk with the vendors right on the spot about all of these upgrades to see if they are right for you.

As they say in elections -- vote early and vote often -- ie: get your registration and payment in to be sure you are one of the first 100 so you will get the special art piece Sharon and I have commissioned just for this event (Byron Songer designed it and metal artist Serene Silva of Santa Cruz is making them for us) and the full hook up sites if you so desire. There is also nearly unlimited dry camping immediately adjacent if you prefer. Also, special weekend only pricing for those of you who still work or might have kids in school. The hotel is providing special rates if your GMC is not functioning and we welcome those of you who have moved to SOBs. Lots of fun. See you there. Details at GMCWS.org, http://www.gmc-cascaders.com/, https://sites.google.com/site/gmc49ersclub/, or email us and we will send you the schedule, rally description, registration forms and volunteer opportunities.
