I had an interesting conversation with Randy Grubb last week and
received the good news that he had sold his beautiful custom coach.
If I'm not mistaken, it sold for $400,000.00
I will be up there to see him next week and confirm.
Some person in Michigan acquired it.
The unit has our engine, transmission, final drive, our Hubler front
end, aluminum radiator and American Eagle hub centered wheels.
If you have never had the pleasure of working with him,you missed a
wonderful relationship.
He has not yet formulated on his next project, but you know it will be grand.

G'day,

Well it seems Randy has hit on a formula to make serious money selling a GMC!

All you have to have is phenomenal sheet metal working skills.

Kerry, GO FOR IT!

Regards,
Rob M.

That is great. Hope I can see it in person some day. It was nice seeing him with it on Storage Wars back in the winter. The builder certainly is an artist.

I got the impression that Kerry got interested in GMC's mostly for a creating a Art Deco Car Hauler out of a one. Think Decoliner with a flat bed.

Not quite. My plan is to build something like this:

The back of the oil tank will raise up for me drive the car inside. I'll use shortened GMC ribs and spars for the tank structure and do the front 'bubble' from scratch. All aluminum body. Might do a wet bath and kitchenette. Bunks will fold down from the sides.

I toured it when he had it at Barrett Jackson last year. Pretty cool. Like a vintage airstream trailer. Very spartan, no biffy, just an ice box and small galley and the couch converted to a bed If I recall. Wonder what his ROI was on that $400K.

My Buddies and I are thinking of converting my coach to a Star Trek Shuttle Craft since I'll never get what I have into it. If we do, we will be extending the bridge for two extra seats (or a center seat) which will give us the space to play with a different drivetrain, probably Revcon style with a transfer case, and a NEW chevy crate motor... Just kickin' it around.

Maybe I can get $400K for that, eh?
