We finally got the old girl out yesterday for a short visit to my sister-in-law's place in Hollister, about 70 miles each way. I gently started the coach on Friday to bring her to the house and naturally everything was working perfectly. Not bad since she's been sleeping since October.

Oh what a comfortable way to travel. The fridge was full of food we were taking to the party, sodas too, and our little dog, Trevor, had his dish of water. The trip was very smooth even though the cross-wind buffeted us a bit. Still, we arrived fresh and raring to party.

The trip home, however, had some drama. While cruising up 101 we saw traffic suddenly begin to slow, and the car immediately in front of me swerved to avoid a big roll of carpet pad. Even the stock brakes were good enough to slow us, but I didn't avoid all of the carpet pad, having to drive over some of the roll. No harm done and we continued on our way. Maybe a quarter mile later the engine died and I coasted to the very narrow shoulder. The coach was quiet - too quiet with the ignition on - no fuel pump racketing away! In my mind it was clear what had happened, the carpet mat had disconnected the wires to the fuel pump. By golly this is exactly what what it was. I braved the too close traffic and looked at the pump - mounted to the outside frame rail - the wire WAS unplugged. Refit the connector and she started to buzz again, got in the coach, started the engine, and we were home in an hour!

I'll never complain about that noisy fuel pump again! Life is good.
