Does anybody have a picture of where the zip dee awning hooks up to the awning rail? both extended, and not extended?
I am curious as to the size of the aluminum C that holds the flex key material. or if people have any patio awnings that go directly into the awning rail without the flex key Fabric material.

Not sure about the guy helping me at zip dee. I might need to chat with the owner.
From what i am learning via google, is old zip dee awnings, did not use the fabric "flex key". but had a metal hinge piece that mounted directly into the awning rail on the coach. I do not have that hinge piece. and it might not be available. Plus it might only fit into a old style awning rail.
need to see if I can change out the last slat in my awning case to a new style piece that uses the fabric flex key.
waiting for a call back from them now. But last time I talked to him he originally told me that all patio awnings uses the fabric flex key, and only window awnings went directly into the awning rail.
I have searched the photo site, and just do not see pictures of the case going directly into the awning rail without the fabric flex key.

Carrying that conversation further, is it possible for an accomplished seamstress (not Elise) to replace the awning material on a Zip Dee. Mine is in good shape but doesn't fit into our eventual color scheme.
We'd like to do Sunbrella or similar fabric.

Stick,
Anyone with a commercial sewing machine can make you an awning if you provide them with the old one by copying it.
However, someone here mentioned that Sunbrella was no longer available as it did not rot and the Feds made them stop making it.
Whether that's true or not I have no idea, however, since it was mentioned here it MUST be true and CORRECT as well! ;-)

I had mine rolled out today. It did not look that overly complicated.
However a good material, I would think would be costly. Have you priced out replacement material with Zip Dee?
otherwise, the supplier I used for my upholstery project carries sunbrella:

I would think though that depending on what zip dee would charge for new fabric, completely sewn and ready for install, could not be that far off from purchasing the fabric, and having to pay a decent seamstress to stich it up.
I would take a wild guess wholesale material cost is $300.00.
I would guess if you had to pay someone to sew it, it would cost a few hundred?
How much is new material from zip dee?

to update my awning problem. Zip dee is sending me some flex strip samples to see if I can make it work, before purchasing anything.
looking at an owners manual. I am pretty sure what i have is a old style awning that uses a metal hinge type piece to mount it to the awning rail. and I am missing that piece.
never got a straight answer if a new end rail that works with the fabric flex strip, would fit my case slats.(just change out last slat with new one). but I was told shipping would be tough. or extremely costly for an 18' slat.

Boy, I am not sure where people come up with these things. Sun fella fabric is readily available.
So, with that reasoning I guess they cannot us aluminum in anything as it doesn't rot either!

Yep - sunbrella is available as are other fabrics that are just as effective. We have an upholsterer/seamstress who will swap out time at the beach condo for sewing.
The current awning on my Eleganza is dark brown with orange accents. It'll have to do for a while.

Well it looks like my memory is only partially correct and partially accurate and therefore I owe Matt an apology, had I not been
too lazy to do a search on the Forum and seen it was from "someone" who had checked with Sunbrella obviously I would not have said
what I said.
I can attest to the fact that the "old" Sunbrella fabric really resists UV as Helen and I brought a patio umbrella with us when we
retired to Sydney in 2002 and the fabric has stood up to the Australian sun quite well and as I understand it the levels of UV are
very high Downunder.
