Well I finished my Engine /Tranny hoist today. Now I can remove my tranny from the bottom like I helped Ken H. with his. Also if i ever have to remove the engine again. I can go out the bottom.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/member-galleries/p49139-hoist.html

I modeled it after BoB Burkitt's except I didnt think I needed 4 rollers and only used 2 My top piece doesnt break down only the feet and outriggers. I also made it to go behind the steps for more working room. So far it works good.

Check it out and let me know If you think any improvements can be made.

Perchance, did you make any drawings of the hoist
so that it can be easily duplicated by others?

Nice looking hardware.   I would weld small gussets into the upper corners.  Hope you don't have to use it too often.

Ted,

That's a great job! One reminder if you ever do use it to R&R the engine
from the top: You'll want to use a second trolley & hoist so you can tilt
the engine/drivetrain to about 45* during lowering and raising; otherwise
you'll have clearance problems at the front crossmember.

Ted;
Nice hoist
For you folks near San Diego I built a out the bottom hoist.
It's adjustable for straight down or if the coach is raised.
I also built a shipping box for the hoist.
We will lend to any GMC owner pick it up at our home in Alpine or pay for shipping out and back.
Our ZIP is 91901 and the weight is around 60 # for the hoist and shipping box.

I'm thinking me or George can front him a six-pak and borrow it when one of our engines/trans goes Dixie.  Nice looking piece of work.

Pulled the tranny today.
What a breeze took about 2 hours. The hoist worked great. You guys can use it anytime after I put the tranny back in. Im going to pull the tranny apart next week and find out what happened. I checked the pressure on it and i have about 3 lbs. Not good so its got to be the pump or converter. I did pull the tranny and left the diff. in the chassis. worked out good only I didnt jack the coach up high enough to drag the tranny out I had to jack and block took more time but now I know.
