At one of the Dothan tech meetings someone mentioned which transmission line is the out to coolers, having cranal anal inversion I can't remember which is which. I'm asking because my temp sender is on the line farthest from the torque converter and at normal 75-80 degree air temp my trans runs about 170. The radiator cooler is completely out of the equation via the PO.

I forgot to mention I do have an external cooler, a good size one right behind the grill.

I would think your incoming temp would be lower with an external cooler but I have not checked mine. Just torque converter and the pan is what I watch. I run mine through the alum radiator then series it with an external cooler. Took the external cooler off for a while and noticed the pan temps went up a good bit, and faster. So, I put it back on.
