Found a good sale on laminate flooring and wonder if anyone can tell me the square footage needed to replace all the carpet in a 26', including the driving deck, under the dinette and couch.

Thanks and best regards,

3 X 3=9 (1 sq yd.) Coach is 8 ft wide by 24 feet long. Do the math.

Unless you have furniture. Or water tanks. Or cabinets. Or a dry shower. Or fender wells. I would imagine if you actually bought 8' x 24' (21.3 yards) of flooring, you'd have enough to do two coaches, or pretty close to it. The cockpit is the only place (in my Royale, at least) that's anywhere close to 8' wide inside.

we did not replace the driving area. we bought 5 boxes of the Allure Traffic Master flooring. we did not open the 5th box.
each box has 24 sq feet.
We also did not do under the couch yet but do plan on it. seeing as we do have enough for the job. Smile

Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.

I know I can do the math, James. I also have furniture, tanks and fixtures as Mark (another one) graciously points out. I was hoping that one of the numerous folks that have replaced just the carpeted areas, I described, might be able to shoot me a figure.

Lacking that I will go out, tape measure in hand and figure it out.

Thanks and best regards

Mark, please forgive the smartass comment. It is just that I have never
seen two identical GMC coach interiors. Previous owners change stuff around
as do current ones. About the only accurate way that there is to determine
EXACT square footage in your coach is to measure and compute yours. I was
not sure of your skill level in this regard. That is why I included the
conversion formula. What I take for granted as common knowledge sometimes
isn't. When I do interior floor covering, I do just that, measure, then
purchase more than I would ever need to cover my screwups in cutting. Sorry
for being a wise a##. Please do not take it personally.

Get at least one more box than the math figures tell you. Trimming and fitting will eat up the extra box easily. Use new saw blades for cutting, cut on the back side to reduce waste. Contemplate the direction of the runs, lay some out before final installation.
I have seen one interior where they cut the material on the 45 degree angle, slanting the design effect. Looked pretty good.
Measure twice and cut once. LOL
Having done many house flooring and one GMC with the stuff, these are my lessons.

With peal and stick floor, fast and cheap, not permanent for sure.
