I am a believer in oil analysis. We have a local Lab here in Knoxville that charges $12 and calls me in 1 hour with results. When Dean came thru with low oil pressure we took him a sample and told him nothing but 455 Olds. He called me and said it had a bad oil pump, shut the engine down. We did and saved the core.
I am not saying that other labs are not good, I am saying that Arthur has been dong this 30 years and will call you and tell you what is wrong with your engine.

Dan: send it to Arthur with your address, phone # and type of engine. He doesn`t treat me any different than any customer.

Chuck took it upon himself to call Arthur and ask if he would look at the data that Blackstone sent me. I sent him the Blackstone report and today I spoke with Arthur and was EXTREMELY impressed with him. My future oil analysis will be with him.

The difference, based on what I heard him tell me, is the difference in DATA and INFORMATION. Arthur told me what things mean and what was and was not important. He also suggested taking my motor out of service immediately and said that he would have told me this after the first sample also. "You've got a serious problem...probably a cracked head. You don't want to drive any further until you are sure it is fixed."

This confirmed my decision.

So Chuck,
How do we go about sending a sample to Arthur? Does he have a sample bottle similar to blackstone? If so do we just ask him for it or should I send a sample in a ketchup bottle" Wink

Larry: Bottles are free at any truck stop, send them where you want. I bought a small baby bottle at the doller store. Truck stop is 10 miles. Anything that will seal and not be contaminated will work. I would call first and ask how they want it taken, hot, midstream, whatever and how much oil to send and let him know it is coming and how much money to send. I am not an expert, just a satisified customer.
