Hi, so we are in Huntington Beach, CA on our maiden voyage in our 77 Kingsley and learning quite a bit. This is our first coach and apparently we are not learning fast enough. There is water slowly leaking from the bottom of the coach on the very back end. Does not seem to be affecting the inside. I learned about regulators a day too late.

I think this is the potable water tank leaking.
1. Can I live with this until we get to Florida in a few weeks without doing damage
2. What is a good link to other info we may need on day to day operation

thanks to all

Is this the first time you have had water in it?
Could be the drain shut off valve is open a bit.

Just my 2 cents. When I purchased my coach, I did a complete gut on the interior. Had water damage under water tank. pulled tank and had 7 pin holes in it. New one was purchased.

I would try draining and isolating the water tank and try just the city water connection. see if it stops. then you would know its in the tank.

If it still leaks isolate the city water and use the tank.

If it still leaks you have a leak in a common water line that both use.

Good luck

My guess is that your fresh water tank has a crack in it. Personally, I would let it drip/leak untill you have time to fix it. Mine leaked for 4 years untill I got to it.

Mine has been dripping for 2 years now and I still haven't around it fixing it.

Are you sure you do not have the tank drain valve open?

a small leak.

Good Morning all -

Steve W here... haven't heard from Jeff yet.

I thought that I was responding immediately but then realized that the initial post was from the night before.

I'm ready to roll - toolbox is in the truck.

Hi, it seems water was not the only problem I was having, after spending some time at the Apple store it seems I can finally get back online. I just saw all the messages and want to thank you all for the replies. I just spoke to Steve and he is coming by after work - will try to keep you all posted (pardon the pun:)

Jeff,

I just met Steve last weekend, so I don't know him well, but his willingness to help speaks volumes about him. I'm sure you guys will get to the bottom of the problem.

Thanks to Steve for coming over, the leak had stopped after a few days, I figured because the tank had run out, but it still seemed to be full. City water had been on all along. We found nothing obvious, but enough to know I can keep traveling and get someone to look at the other end.

Steve also helped with few other issues I was having.

Thanks again to Steve, and also the GMC community in General for being so supportive

Hi Carl, hope all is well with you.

and here we are !!

Jeff called me while I was en route to Huntington Beach. He informed me that the leak had stopped and suspected that the tank was empty. "OK - let's leave it like that and we'll sort things out from there" was my reply.

So here's the report:

Jeff had exposed the tank and the water pump at the passenger rear. Everything was completely dry. Perhaps there was a bit of darker coloration that may indicate previous wetness but nothing now. Carpeting completely dry too. Any leakage that there was ran outside. Great!

Water was hooked up to the city water inlet and pressurized. No leakage anywhere so I figure that any leak is with the water tank or the pump. "OK - Let's fill up the tank and see if we can see leakage at any of these fittings, or from the tank, or wherever..."

We proceed to unhook the city water connection to fill the tank and surprise - the water tank is full !! Perhaps the fill line or some overflow from the fill line was the culprit. But Jeff said that lots of water had leaked so we'll see. Stayed dry the whole time I was there. Ran the pump too. If I forced my fingers down into the lowest recesses of the tank area - I could maybe maybe feel just a bit of wetness. Regardless - should it reappear - it sure looks like the leak isn't causing any damage.

Other stuff:

No hot water. Jeff indicated that he had hot water upon arrival but it went away... I found the electrical hot water heater switch in the OFF position so I turned it ON. Jeff indicated that it had previously been ON for hours with no effect. We searched for any circuit reset buttons but found none. And Jeff - I really don't expect that one would be buried behind those access panels. Reset buttons tend to be readily accessible - not hidden away. Perhaps there's a secondary water heater switch somewhere - anyone ?? And I suspect that the hot water availability upon arrival was from the engine heat exchange system...

Buzz box buzzing away. Jeff - If you plan to stay plugged for more than a day or two at a time - you really should consider replacing that buzz box. Progressive Dynamics. A PD45 will be just fine. A PD60 is more powerful but not really required. Both are available from many sources including the two Jim's. (Jim K in California at Applied GMC and Jim Bounds at the GMCCOOP in Florida). And really easy to install.

On a related note, Jeff is headed to Florida so I expect we'll see this coach on a Daily Pose sometime...

Radiator Overflow: Empty - and different than I expected. The radiator overflow hose goes to the bottom of Jeff's overflow tank and the overflow tank has an overflow hose out the top. Probably works - just different than mine with top entry and a pickup tube. Either way - Jeff - be sure to fill it up to that COLD line.

Last but not least - Jeff claims to have a ferocious chihuahua. Seems untrue. That dog (forgot her name) accepted a small piece of pizza crust from me with better table manners than many kids I know. Oh - thanks for the pizza Jeff.

And that's the way we roll in Southern California. All good.

If they want to shower why not just run the engine for 5 min til electric is fixed? Probably element or sticky thermostat on WH causing it to trip thermal. Reset is on end of tank, access via refer panel on some.

Some do not have a reset button. The Kumha installed in my coach has a thermal overload, but it is a failure item, not resettable. Replacement cost is $25, web price, $50 list price, and that is if you can find it for sale.. A real bummer.
Wish it was a simple rest like the OEM Atwood.
