I want to install one temperature gauge that can read three different sensors- water, oil, and transmission temperatures. I have found a SunPro gauge CP-7956 with a sensor CP-7576 but can't find a selector switch. Has anyone done this before? I remember someone suggesting that it could be done a few months back in the forum and thought that would be a great way of having the gauges with the least bit of space. Any suggestions on where to find a three or four position selector switch? A Napa representative suggested to use an air conditioner selector switch, and I have even seen a heater fan switch but all of these seemed too bulky and ugly for what I want.

Check out www.speedhut.com.
They have a massive array of custom gauge packages and individual gauges as well. They have a four inch gauge with oil pressure/ water temp/ fuel level/ volts for around $300.

I have what you want installed on my airplane. It was made by EI (Electronics International) The small rotary switch allows me to see the individual EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperatures) of each cylinder. Another level on the same switch does the same thing for Cylinder Head Temperatures. I'll see if I can find a part number and source for it.

Hi Bruce

Try Digikey www.digikey.com
Enter CKN9823-ND in the search box.

They also have numerous knobs, just search for knobs, be sure ti check the 'In Stock' box so you
don't get a bunch of stuff they don't currently stock. There are dozens of pages but the selector
is good at narrowing down the choices. (metal, plastic, pointer, knurled, size, etc.)

Order by 8:00PM and you should get it the next day, unless you are at a rural address,
then 'we deliver part way' FedEx will dump it at the post office.

Radio Shack carries a 6 position 2 pole rotary switch. More than you need, but you can mod it to only allow enough rotation for three positions.

digikey
Farnall
mouser

all carry similar items, you could use a slide switch with multiple positions too.

You could to to goodwill and buy a junker boom box that has a 3 position switch and cannibalize that too. it will be labeled radio-cd-tape and would at least be a single pole thee position switch.

Yep, what Chris said. Fast and easy if you have a Radio Shack near by. The digi-panel has only a two way switch for monitoring 2. What you are looking to do is an easy task. I just have to have a gauge for each one so I dont miss anything. Very Happy

I got some little bat - handle low current double throw toggle switches which are spring loaded.  (I use them for 'enable' switches on some gear to stop inadvertant operation).  They fit in a quarter inch hole.  With two of these, you can set the gugage to read f'rinstance water temp normally, then divert to oil or trans when the appropriate switch is held down.  The local supplier (Ack Industrial Electronics) has them, blister paked, so surely DigiKey or Mouser will also.

Thanks all for your input. In my requesst I should have used rotory switch
instead of selector switch. How one discriptive word can change everything.
I like the Digikey Dave suggested. Off to order the parts.
