With the recent discussions on Promoting the GMCMH, I began to wonder if anyone has already produced a business card sized "calling card"?

Having such a card makes it easy and convenient for all of us to carry one with them just about all the time as several can easily fit in your wallet. The card should obviously be focussed around promoting the GMC's many popular websites as most of them contain a plethora of useful info and links to more sites specifically about the GMCMH.

If such a card doesn`t already exist, perhaps Byron could produce a one colour GMCMH graphic with www.gmcmhregistry.com (or another suitable web address) displayed below the graphic. The back side of the card could contain additional web addresses in a smaller font.

There are several business card templates available that will work with AVERY or similar businss cards. Once a template has been populated with the appropriate info, it could be made available to all of us on one of our several GMC related sites as a download file so we can print them at home.

I started using this idea over 10 years ago to promote a Yahoo group (SyncroG60) that specifically covered the 1992 VW Passat G60 Syncro, a car that was only sold in Europe and Canada and was costly to maintain unless you knew the tricks. The idea worked well to help spread information to many otherwise uninformed owners of these cars. The group's membership almost doubled in the few years following which I attribute partially to improved promotion.

The idea is to give a card out to anyone showing interest in a GMC coach. We should also try to leave a card under a wiper or in a door jamb of a coach where the owner is not around.

You could also leave your own personal contact info on the card for the recieving person to have should they prefer to talk to someone in person.

I know I`ve had a few opportunities recently where I wish I had such a card.

Yes. Done already. In MS Word format. Edit as you please. Go to the bottom
of the web page.

http://www.gmceast.com/lifestyle/gmcers/

The brochure template is also on that web page along with a windshield
poster. What is displayed on the web page are examples of the templates.
All templates are editable as well as the use of the display graphics for
the coach year on the poster.

All of these are made to coordinate with the gmcers.org introduction to
the GMC and use the image created to be used on gmcers.org bumper stickers
(which Terry Taylor may have).

Thanks,

I had not noticed the business card last time I was perusing the ES site.

Now how do we encourage GMC owners to actively carry & distribute these cards?

Just looked at the GMCers.org web page and noticed that an important link is missing.

The GMC Registry

so Rick Denney if you are following this thread, perhaps you could add the Registry link to your page.

Thanks, Byron.

I do have one question, though. I want to put our
names in mixed case, but for some reason I can't
seem to do that.

I freely admit to being a digital novice, but I
have usually been able to make MS Word do what
I want it to do.

They are not dead. Either you do not have an application that can open .doc files, or the application that should open .doc files is not "associated" with .doc files, or your browser/security settings are blocking download of .doc files.
If using Internet Explorer, try right mouse clicking and "Save target as..."

Select ALL of the text on a card template. Then select the Format pull down menu and select FONT. In the Font window, roughly centered are three columns. In the far right column is a check box labled "all caps". Uncheck that box and you should be able to have your way. You will have to do this for each individual card on the template. Any questions?

That may be the case on a later version of MS Word,
but it's not on my Word 2003.

A good friend of our's, on the net, sent Teri and me a program back in 06/07. We printed cards like that with a picture of our coach on it. Great idea.

Yes, the case is set to all caps. Change to title case or whatever you
want. Different version of Word have the capability in different places. I
dislike the way Microsoft "modernized" the latest version of the Office
software. Of course, they went and ruined Windows 7 by making Windows 8
look like something for a fourth grader.

Good luck finding what you want to do. I don't have 2003 and don't
remember the menu structure.

You could just stick with my fine design. The all caps is there for a
reason. Set the "c" in McDONALD, that's all you need to change.

Hi, Byron.

The problem here is our name is spelled "Macdonald"
NOT "McDonald" and NOT "MacDonald."

I'm trying to list the "name" as "Mac & Judy Macdonald."

Hi, Byron.
The problem here is our name is spelled "Macdonald"
NOT "McDonald" and NOT "MacDonald."
I'm trying to list the "name" as "Mac & Judy Macdonald."

~~ ~ D C "Mac" Macdonald ~ ~~

Mac, works in my Word v 03 just like they said. Highlight what you want to change, click on "format" in the command line at the top of the page, click on "font" and as they said, on the right side of the box is checked, "all caps". uncheck it and your all set to go.
even if it is fine design, I don't care for all caps - just like yelling on the net.

Mac, you might be right about newer versions of Word. Mine is 97, so it is a bit older. I also have 2003, but I don't use it. Did check it tho, and it is the same as 97.

... I
dislike the way Microsoft "modernized" the latest version of the Office software. Of course, they went and ruined Windows 7 by making Windows 8 look like something for a fourth grader. ...

If you do not change something you can not claim that you "improved" it. (Like when you change Officer in Charge in the military.... they have to change SOMETHING!)

Also I have noticed that every other Windows release is worth upgrading to. Stay away from Win 8, just like you should have stayed way from Vista.

Have not seen any positive movement on the plaques .
At $55 each it is not a bad way to let it speak for itself.

Count me "positive". My new plaque is going on the rear window this weekend. I think it is a great advertizement for those of us that take our coaches to local car shows.

I know....I know...I had every intention of getting one at the Dothan rally, but got busy and forgot. Will get one at the Branson rally for sure.
