The steering on my 1976 Palm Beach is "stiffer" than on other coaches that I have driven. Over time ALL steering and suspension parts except the power steering pump have been replaced. Coach handles great- just takes more effort to turn the wheel than a Cadillac.

GMCI Parts interchange lists #7813474 for 1973 and #7818023 for 74-77 and #7827380 for 1978.

O'Rielly also lists different numbers for different years of Toronados.

I'm going to change the pump- hoping for easier steering.

Anyone know what the differences are in the pumps? Why did such a basic part change from year to year?

What's the likely hood of easier steering with a different pump?
