I just got in late last night from the Dothan Rally...all together this
winter I put on 7328 miles. I had to replace a fuse in the dash lighting
and have a tomato juice can holding my exhaust system together. Two days
ago a 'house fuse blew and now my fridge doesn't work...I'll look at it
next month.'...<g>
I stopped in to see Ralph Luby on the way home..he is now into an MCI
bus..and he suggested I may be one of the few that puts that kind of
mileage on our GMC's. I never thought about it, but judging by the
distances traveled to the Dothan rally, with exceptions of course, he may
be right .

My point...40 years old or not...us it as intended ! Travel

Mike now in NS at home

Mike,
Is it any warmer at your place that it is here in Michigan. It was nice meeting you at the rally. Good to hear the report on Ralph.

From 2007 thru 2010 we averaged about 5400 miles a year. In 2011 & 2012 we were doing almost 8000+ miles a year as we were going out west to Tucson for the winter and doing a little wandering around. This year we went to Florida again and our year average will be in the 5000 mile range. Next year when we go out west we will again be doing in the 8000+ miles again. We live in our coach at least 3 month out of the year along with 6 to 8 five day trips during the summer. In 2015 we want to do a western national parks tour and come back across the upper US and catch those parks also.

The bottom line is that we use our coach to travel and enjoy this great country and our coach. I know of number of you that do a lot of miles each year too. I believe that a coach that is driven and use has less problems than coaches that end up as garage queens. It doesn't matter that your coach is original or updated, what matter is that you get out and use it!

Mike,

It was good meeting you in Dothan.

We are in the category of using our coach a lot. It took us over 6000 miles to get to Dothan. Like John, we spend nearly 4 months a year in our coach, usually spending the winter in AZ and CA. We have had our coach about 5 1/2 years traveling close to 65,000 miles. We enjoy seeing the US, visiting family and friends, and volunteering time working projects (NOMADS) at agencies who provide hookups for our RVs. Mostly, we try to avoid the winter weather😊

However, to get to the next rally, we will have to travel a daunting 40 miles

NOMADS is the name of the organization that organizes projects across the US. Volunteers travel to a site in their RVs and work for 3 weeks building, repairing, painting, landscaping or whatever the host agency needs done. NOMADS is affiliated with the United Methodist Church although you don't have to be a Methodist to participate. For more information: <http://nomadsumc.org/>

Other organizations have similar opportunities to utilize your RVs in volunteer work such as SOWERS, MAPPs and Caravaners (Habitat for Humanity).
