So I got new poly bushings for my old KYB shocks. Rather than reuse the old bushing sleeve, I would prefer to use new yellow zinc plated sleeves to avoid problems later on. After much internet searching and finally speaking at length with the energy suspension folks, it looks like I'll have to get some sleeves that are the right diameter and then cut to length. Has anyone else found a better solution to this problem?

Jp, I expect that by the time the shock bushings and inner sleeves are no
longer serviceable, that the shock itself will need to be replaced. As the
new KYB shocks come with mounting hardware, that should end your search for
bushings.

I removed one of the sleeves from an old bushing. The rubber appeared to be vulcanized on so I used a rotary wire brush to clean off the excess from the sleeve. It's nice and shiny now but will rust pretty quickly without any protection. Plus the inside of some of the sleeves show wear and damage from the bolt threads. I agree that any problems from using the old sleeves should be minimal but it seemed like a pretty simple task to find new ones. Apparently not. One person advised me to go to Midas and they might have a bucket full of sleeves that came from shocks with multiple sleeves for different applications. Hey maybe I could get some stainless steel tubing and make my own.

Gene,
My shocks seem fine but some of the bushings were damaged. I got red bushings shown in your second link. In fact that's where I got the part numbers from. They're also sold by suspension.com for about the same price. You would think they would also sell sleeves but not so...

I just noticed that the bottom bushings on one of my KYB shocks had squirmed out and was essentially useless. I had an assortment of red poly bushings that are generic anti-sway bar link bushings, so I just drilled out the bushing to accommodate the sleeve and it worked out fine. But I think I'll be ordering some more of the ones recommended to do the whole set (in my experience, when one goes, the rest aren't going to be too far behind).
Question - has anyone noticed any increase in road noise using the poly bushings? I'm guessing not, since not much "road buzz" will get through the shock to transfer to the chassis, but thought I'd ask...

Mark,
After speaking with a number of "experts" I've learned that the poly bushings are prone to squeaking if they are not lubricated properly. I suspect any difference in road noise from poly bushings would not be noticeable in comparison to all the other noises going on.
