Well...
Lots of firsts for my wife Merrie and me:
- First "big" trip in our new GMC - Southern California to Tuscon, AZ.
- First real camping trip - we haven't even spent a night in the coach yet !!
- First big Rally.
- First vacation with our dogs.
- First big road trip for the dogs...
It's gonna be a true adventure - way happy about that.
In addition to meeting new friends and learning as much as possible about the coach, I'm hoping to:
- Have some experts take a look at the coach and even drive it. I think it runs pretty darn good but what do I know - it's my first one !!
- Get some help with installation of a vacuum pump.
- Get some help with confirming that my one-wire alternator is safe.
- Get some ideas on a dashboard... one of Macs most likely.
- Determine if I need suspension and/or front end stuff.
- Meet the famous Jims and prolly give them some money.
- Purchase some treasures at the swap meet.
And I hope to contribute as much help as I can to this wonderful community. I've been a lurker for many years and a coach owner for just a few months. I certainly respect and appreciate the wealth of knowledge and expertise that's present here. It's a fantastic virtual community and I expect to discover that it's even better in person.
See you next week. We're travelling on Wednesday and hope to be there before Dave brings out the Margarita bucket.

Steve,
Looking forward to meeting you. I'm kind of a Western States "outsider" myself, having only been to one WS rally (a few years ago in Las Vegas). I'm sure you'll have a god time and meet lots of helpful people.

Steve and Merrie, sounds like you got a good one and it sounds like you are
headed for a fun adventure traveling to your first rally.
Bob and I bought our coach at the end of January '05, took it immediately
to have fuel injection installed, then he worked on the mechanicals every
day until we left to drive to AK on July 1. Only problem we had was a
broken gear selector cable in Williams Lake, Canada on our way home. Not
wanting to wait to have one sent to us, on the road all the way back to TX,
he would raise the engine cover to switch gears while stopped. It was a
little hairy driving UP Monarch Pass and DOWN it (I was navigating) without
being able to down shift. Thank goodness he had lots of previous driving
experience and I don't panic. That's the worst thing that happened during
the two month trip, plus we had lots of other exciting times experiencing a
different part of the world, and traveling with, Sweetie, our new Shih Tzu.
DO IT AND DON'T LOOK BACK!
