I see where some are suggesting using HARD BLOC for filling the exhaust crossover tube, but it seems to be pretty expensive. Summit sells two 6 1/4 Lb bags for $84.95 or two 14 Lb bags for $96.95.
Has any one tried Moroso Engine Block Filler - One-Gallon Container for $14.95 from Pit Stop USA ?

the description is,
Just fill with water, mix and pour into block before machining
Helps prevent thin cylinder walls from cracking and improves ring seal by keeping cylinders round
Also dampens unwanted vibrations
Has expansion rate very similar to cast iron
Highly regarded by "Mountain Motor" authority Scott Shafiroff
Also available in single-gallon jugs
