... since I installed a mascerator it will not drain unless pumping....

Hummm, mine does if the hose end is below the tank level? My beloved PO installed it and I haven't paid much attention to it. Is something wrong with my pump or installation?

Well, Mine drains only when the pump is running and my hose is stored below the tank level. Just how mine works....

Kerry,

The macerator's chopper blade is backed up by a rubber impeller. If that's
deteriorated, it can/will leak. Repair kits are available. I sometimes
wonder if the savings is worth the trouble, the the Jabsco prices are
getting so high, I guess it is. I've got a couple of the cheepies ordered
to replace my two potentially failing Jabsco's. I'll rebuild the better of
the Jabscos with an on-hand kit for a spare.

Kerry,

I installed a Valterra valve upstream of the macerator:

Here's a series of photos that show the innards of the Jabsco Macerator

I'm getting a portable one the next time around. I can never seem to "Get it all" out of the line, regardless of how I position the airbags in the coach. I usually squat it to drain, and then lift the passenger side a bit to get the last few drops out of the pump, as it is on the left side under the genny in my coach.

I'm actually preferring using the stinky slinky as it whooshes the crap out of the tanks.
