Fellow GMC.netters,

Elaine & I have recently returned from our first GMC rally in our GMC.
We were gone for a total of 14 days.
Spent four of them in Dothan at the GMCMI convention.
We had so much fun there !
Arrived as strangers, and felt as though we left as family.
Everyone was so nice to us.
We met so many people, and saw so many things.

We signed up for the mentor program, and had Ken Henderson take the challenge, and looked over our GMC.
He gave us lots of info, and answered many of our questions.
Fortunately, he spotted a very worn alternator belt (only 5,000 miles on it) and told me to replace it.
I am very thankful that I was able to fix it at the rally, than on the side of the road on the way home.
Big thanks to Ken, for all he did for us.
I also got to meet Mr. Emory Stora.
He too was on my list of people to meet in person.
Like Ken, Emory gave me his opinon on a few questions, and took some time with me regarding my Onan generator.
Got lots of information, and really appreciate his time with us.
We purchased a GMC (pinewood derby style) vehicle and Mr. Dale Ropp gave us lots of help putting it together.
We left early and did not get a chance to attend the races on Tues., but there is always next year !
I got so many stories, that it could go on enough for a book. (and I'm a Newbie!)
So, I'll stop , for now.

We were going from sun up to sun down every day.
So many choices of what to do next.
As with most adventures I get into, I enjoy taking photos of them.
I dragged my camera around with me most of the time, and did manage to get a few photos of the things I saw.
But, being new to the group, I was a little timid and did not get photos of everything.
I did get a chance to take a walk and do my best to capture a lot of the different GMC's in the parking lot.
I think I got most of them, (but not all of them).
I put up a flyer on the bulletin board offering free photos of your GMC, but only had 6 people take me up on it.
Maybe next year, I might be able to do a better job and have more GMCs show up for the "GMC photo booth".

I put together a small gallery of my adventure on my website, and made all the photos downloadable in full resolution for free.
Just follow the downloading directions on the gallery, if you want any of them.
Here is a direct link to the gallery: GMCMI Convention 2013 by: G2
I would like to thank everyone one we met for the kindness shown to us.
We had so much fun, and so many wonderful memories of a very special time in our life.

We are already looking forward to next year.

Sincerely,
Glenn & Elaine Gardner...G2photosmx.com Smile

Glenn & Elaine,

It was my pleasure getting to meet you two and play "mentor". Having
younger folks like y'all join the GMC community will be its salvation. I
hope you'll encourage your age-peers to take a look at the terrific value
the GMC offers compared to the expensive, soon obsolete big boxes.

Looking forward to seeing y'all at future rallies -- maybe we'll make it to
more Sunshine Statesmen rallies ourselves.

Thanks for coming. I could not have pumped the chocolate syrup without you two.
Heading over to look at your photos now. Tell others how much fun these gatherings are. We do try to make everyone feel at home. I am sorry we did not get to visit more. Was a busy week for me this time.
See you again soon.

Glenn,

It was equally good to meet you and be one of the many to welcome you into
the family. Glad you had a good time and felt like you were leaving as
family.

Great pictures! I love the one I came down and had you take with me and the coach and the dog. Lots of people really missed out not taking you up on the coach pictures. Thanks for taking pics of all the coaches. Now I can look at the paint schemes and dream. Was great to meet you and I'm glad you had a good time. Always nice to see more people enjoying their GMCs!

Great photos, great video, great story. Thank you.

One question though, how did you take the photos from the elevated view point?

Bill, this dude had a camera with a snout on it that you can't imagine. Must have been a foot long. He must have thrown the camera into the air or he climbed a pole to get those shots. If he continues to attend I will turn my picture taking over to him. Will give me more time to perfect the ice cream serving.

He had a very long Fiberglas pole with the camera mounted on top. He and his wife had great difficulty holding it upright in the wind. I don't know how he triggered the camera. Possibly a radio remote. The camera looked like it was 50 foot up

I'd like to add my thanks to Kim and all the volunteers and vendors and participants that made this, my first GMCMI rally, a really great one. I was only able to stay 2 nights due to a death in my family and scheduling conflicts, but I plan a much longer stay at Branson.

I can report that my new-to-me coach performed flawlessly other than some pretty bizarre fluctuations in transmission temperatures.

Had I stayed for the cold weather, my coach would have been toasty due to my new furnace and wall-sized catalytic heater installed by the late, great Bill Telgen.

As soon as I reached Americus, we repacked the coach and headed for Atlanta to begin dismantling my sister's house. We had 3 pleasant nights in her driveway and are headed back there in the coach on Thursday for the final garage sale. I am pleased to report that we both slept very well in the double bed in the rear. I am surprised at that. I just can't have anything to drink after lunch so I am totally dehydrated when I hit the sack. Smile

Thanks again to friends new and old and to all those who know how to make for a fun time.

Fellow GMC.netters,
Thank you all, for the kind words.
I am happy to hear that many of you enjoyed the photos from Dothan.
We still can't get over the fact that others (like us) love their GMC as much as we do !
Like I said, I had a lot of FUN, and was just trying to record my experiences, so I would have something to remember it by.
It all went by so fast.
Such a great time we had.
I hope to see you all again next year.
Sincerly,
Glenn Gardner Razz
