After leaving the FMCA rally near Burlington VT last July, Paula and I meandered down along Lake Champlain and ended up staying in Lake George. Just before we got there we climbed a hill for about 4 miles at about 25mph so I've been looking for a site that shows the grade of a road.
I found a site that using Google Maps you enter a starting and an ending point. It then follows the road and give you the profile of the grade and it's %. The hill we climbed comes up at 4% over about 4 miles. Good thing we took that one, as the next road was 9% over 1.25miles (I didn't expand out to see if that was the entire climb or just a portion of it)
It calculates the grade based on distance and elevation from start to finish of your marked route. So if you hi-light going over a 200ft hill and back down the other side to the same elevation, your grade will be zero.
Site is: www.toporoute.com
Enjoy.
