I received a lot of help and support and I wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to reply to my other thread.

It was a big help!

After seeing this picture on a site it gave me an idea that might work in theory. I hope!

As you can see in this picture below UV520 has a ball hitch mounted to the back of the Toronado frame?

A closer look under the coach shows that it is clear from the transmission all the way back to the rear grill.

So I thought I could use the ball hitch on UV520 to help balance the Toronado frame,
suspension and power plant while also using it to pull the entire unit out from under UV520.
This would be in the place of the long poles seen in the first picture.


I thought I would have a custom reversed ball hitch made.
Instead of having the ball on the back of the tow vehicle, the ball is on the back of the frame, which supports the Toronado, in UV520.
I’ll have a custom adjustable receiver made to put in the hitch on my truck.
That way I can back up my truck to UV520 and align the two up and connect them together.

After they are connected; I’ll remove the grill and then unbolt the complete Toronado frame from UV520 and lift the coach up high enough
to pull the power plant, frame, suspension and all out from under the coach.

Once the entire unit has been move away from the coach I can work on taking the engine and transmission combination out of the frame.
I'll place them in the back on my truck. Then I will put the frame and suspension back under the coach to be able to tow it home.
Like I said before; it sounds good in theory. I just hope it works! GGG


Your thoughts?

PS - I'm looking for 2 bad outer CV joints. Only the area that supports the bearings and the lock nut have to be in good shape.

Our 1970 Ultravan #520 has an Olds Toronado 455 in back.
