73 Eleganza? That would be a trick....

The Eleganza SE was put out the last part of 1974. The Eleganza II model started in 1975.

But anyway, the cabinets where pretty much the same (other than color) within a few categories: Early GM (1973/1974, not including the Eleganza SE), late GM (1975 +). Transmodes are similar within the model, but some layouts might have one-off cabinets.

I have not seen any plans for OEM cabinets.

Triva:

- The Eleganza II was the most popular model with 2,247 being built.
- The Palm Beach was a close second at 1,910.
- Note that EACH had higher build that all other (1975 and up) GMC upfitted models... combined. (1,835).

(It might be why the common public seems to call all GMC's "Eleganza" or "Palm Beach"!)

Also interesting to note the numbers of 26 foot transmodes in 1978, 1,012. This is almost HALF of ALL of the 26 foot transmodes made. (I'd bet that almost all of them ended up as Royales. Seems you can't go anywhere without tripping over a 1978 Royale!)

Michael,

I have remade the modules (ref, closet, shower, galley) with plywood. They're stronger and lighter then OEM modules. Particle board is heavy and after all these years, the laminate was all that was holding them up somewhat.

I used them as patterns for the new modules pieces. Closet front frame, door, drawers was reused.

Ref module, all new with 2" deeper for demand water heater space.

Shower module. New panels, no alterations.

Galley module. Custom design for storage and convenience.

I made some sketches and took pic of how they where made for references in case of any questions came up in the remake.

FWIW

Good morning All
I also just finished making new upper cabinets for my new coach. I am
like you, I saved the old ones for patterns.
I made mine out of Russian Baltic plywood. About nine plies, very
strong and much lighter than the original cabs.
A bit time consuming but worth the effort. Good luck
