Looking to buy oil and trans temp gauges.
What temperature ranges should I consider?
I see 100-250 or 140-280 on the oil
And 100-250 or 140-280 on the trans.
Also, will a 4 grand tach be enough for the 403 (77)?

4 Grand tach is adequate for the GMC. Since the engine is producing most of it's power in the upper range of 2400 to 2800 rpm (SWAG). The temperature gauges might depend on your radiator. If you have changed to the AL radiator, you will find that your temps are lower than with the OEM radiator. I had a temp gauge with the sensor in the Ragusa AL transmission oil pan. i was convinced the gauge was not working, because the needle never moved (flat land driving). Only until I hit some big hills, did the gauge move. Smarter automobile types will chime in, but I think that you would be happy with either set of temp ranges.
The bigger discussion might be on where and how you are going to locate the sensors.
Just my drift on the gauge situation. Personally, I would like t have a 270 degree sweep gauge face, easier to determine if the needle actually did move.

Get the higher temperature gauges since your real concern doesn't begin
until the temperatures get high -- you don't want to peg the needles &
wonder by how much.
If there's a 5K tach available, I'd get that. It will put your cruising
RPM more mid-scale.

Cheep tach advice: Buy the small SW 29.95 unit, and set it for a 4cly engine. Voila! 4K tach. I took some artwork rub off numbers and renumbered mine. I need to add the 0.
