I'm in the process of chasing down water leaks in the copper plumbing. I have a '73 of some description, 26' feet long. The bathroom is on the passenger side. Anyway, the vanity has two sliding doors under it. On the left side there is a plastic compartment under the sink. When I slide the doors to the left, all I see are the innards of the coach. Plumbing, etc. Is there supposed to be a little plastic cabinet under there also? If so, where would I find one?
Thank you...

The black plastic you see is the inner side of the plastic wheel liner.

Under the vanity there is storage. I only have the little plastic compartment on the left side. Is there a compartment for the right side?

My '73 230 had an electric hot water heater on the right side. Took
that because it was leaking and now I have more storage.

Harry, my 74 does not have it but I think they came with them. I would not replace mine if I had it. I like having access to everything there plus I have room for other things. We have heavily insulated back there to keep the cold winter air out.

Similer in my 75 Glenbrook. No cabinet on the right side. You probably need the right side open to drain the water heater for winter storage. Even with the side open you have to be a contortionist to get at the drain valve in my unit. Sometimes I temporarily remove the storage cabinet on the left to get at the valves easier. Even then it can be a chore.

Sounds to me like your coach does not have the electric water heater that was under "the vanity" behind the siding panel just outboard of the toilet.

Does it have a water heater somewhere else in the coach? If so, you might as well come up with a plastic box or something to use the area for storage.

Ah ha...it looks like the water heater has been removed from under the vanity, as there are some lines that have been capped off. The picture from Dennis is what mine looks like.
As Mike says, I should find a plastic box of the same size to fill in the hole.
Thanks everyone for your input.

You're never going to find a "box" that fits that area right, but you
can build your own!

Corrugated plastic sheet.

Built a cardboard box first. Make it "fold" on the lines that you can
and use tape to connect corners. Figure out how to attach/support it
behind the sliding doors. Then you pull your cardboard template out,
unfold it, and transfer the pattern to the plastic. Good quality duct
tape holds it together quite nicely although I ended up riveting
aluminum angle brackets here and there to tie it together and also mount it.

It's a project, but useful storage in a GMC is worth a lot.

I have some of that plastic. I used it on my ceiling. I screwed it to the ribs then glued pine t&g boards to it.
Thanks again.

If you do not have a water heater, this is a popular solution.

(Full disclosure: Pics are not my coach. Also I do not have one of this type of water heaters... but many other do.)
