There are a lot of Nu-bees ,out there, driving their GMCs for the first
time.
for your own protection, take some time with your alternator....

- Do not drive around without an APC cable to protect your wiring from a
broken alternator.

- get the APC from JimK at Dothan
- give JimK a call to bring one
http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/557

-get the right belts, and get them tight
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/5950/GMC_BELTS_WILL_NOT_LET_YOU_DOWN.pdf

- have your alternator rebuilt (NEW WINDINGS, NEW ARMATURE, NEW ELECTRONICS)
- DO NOT BUY A REBUILT FROM A PARTS HOUSE (unless your have to :>)

- put on a combiner (or carry a jumper) so you can drive on ,with the Onan
to charge the batteries

Good luck on your trip
