Where can I find a replacement 12v small bathroom vent fan? I believe there
may be clearance issues with the roof rack if I enlarge the hole and add the
standard 14" one.

The top cap has deteriorated and will leak. Any suggestions on how to
proceed would be greatly appreciated..

Ken,
If you're looking for an original style, 6" round, with the pull-down handle, the only place I have found them so far is J.C.Whitney. But maybe the Jim's have access to them also.

Ken,

I think this is the one you have:

http://www.jcwhitney.com/EXHAUST-VENT-WITH-12-VOLT-FAN/GP_2002331_N_111+10207+600005241_10107.jcw

It should also be available in the Stag-Parkway, or other catalog from
which local RV dealers order their parts.

They may be able to order just the cap.

Someone who has installed a Fantastic Fan should be have a used one for you.

TRY to install a Fantastic Fan -- you'll be MUCH happier with the
performance.

Are you talking about the OEM rack? I had no problem with the rack. I did, however, have to be rather cautious because there was a wiring loom that followed one of the aluminum frames between the roof and ceiling. But the changeover was well worth it.

I replaced the OEM fan with a Fantastic vent, lets a lot of outside light inside, very nice.

If you are talking about the OEM fan, I think I still have it, along with the piece of roof aluminum I cutout.

It worked when I replaced it with the Fantastic fan.

Trash the small fan idea, go with a 14" fan, it is the difference
between night and day. Really brightens up the bath.

I just bought a Fan-Tastic vent for the front hole, I'll buy your used one,
I most likely wont run it much just for venting purposes.

The small round ones are still available, However I installed the large vent
so we can have more light and circulation.
I first determind how far to the side I could mount it useing the origional
circular hole as a guide. I then went up onthe roof to see how much I would
need to move the cargo pod. I was able to get the clearance by moving the
pod few inches. Now the bathroom is not dark.

You can get the small ones at Gateway. Motor is tiny on the new one so it is actually less restrictive to the air flow. Rest is the same.

The bathroom fan on my coach was toast. I rounded the corners off a 4inch 12 volt muffin fan and installed it in place of the motor and fan that was there before. There was no problem in fitting it in the space and it does the job nicely with half the noise of the regular type of fan. I picked the fan up at Princess Auto for under five bucks. (You can check there web site and on line catalogue). I am sure you could find something similar at Harbour Freight which we dont have here.

Went out to look at my fan. A little hard to see in the dark but it was odviously a 5 or 6 inch muffin fan. I rounded off the corners and it went in nicely from the bottom but with no room to spare. Once you pull the old motor out you will see the size you need if you decice to go that route. I notice that that size is not in the current Princess Auto catalogue but I know they have a raft of them in their surplus aisles. I'm sure you could find an equivalent item at Harbour Freight of similar store.

Princess Auto is probably our Harbour Freight and probably has a lot of the same stuff at the same range of qualities. They've been around forever (I remember buying parts for my 33 Chev there years ago) After getting tired of getting covered with grease every time I picked up my grease gun I broke down a bought an air fed grease gun there today (Under 20 bucks).

Ken, I wont try to talk you out of the OEM fan, but the light you get from a Fantastic fan is fabulous in the bathroom. Otherwise that area is really dark and the OEM fan does not give any light.

That said, I dont want anything for the OEM fan, it came off of my 74 GlacierX, was working when removed, as is no guarantee.....yours for the shipping.

Thank you LarC,

My Birchaven is a rear bath model so light is not an issue, I have 80% of
the rear window back there it already looks like Las Vegas back there!
That said I would definitely do the 14" vent if it was of a different
design..

I went with the muffin fan solution also. Did the same thing over the stove for the cooking fan. The muffins I used have a cool blue light. But my future solution for the bathroom is a fantastic fan. Huge difference in ambient light plus it pulls odors out instantaniously.

You and I must be thinking in the same track. My motorhome had no cabinet or fan above the stove when I purchased it. At first I kinda liked the uncluttered look. but eventually I wanted the exhaust fans again.

I bought one of the solenoid operated vent doors for the exhaust vent and two 12v muffin fans. I wired the switch so in one position, the fan run parallel, that is 12v to both fans and they run full or high speed. in the other position, the fans run series or 6 volts making the fans run about half speed. Cool concept. The power switch also powers a LED light, the fans are controlled from that. I added another switch to light two 20watt hallogen under cabinet lights. THe LED light is great at night, I have one in the hallway also, along with two hallogen lights wired to a switch the same what the fans are for Hi low lighting.

My we get creative dont we.

Gateway has the OEM fan as well ....complete unit.

It's the same except for a downsized motor of newer design, which actually is less restrictive to the air path.
