While we're talking wipers.  Does anyone have a solution to the lower sides of the windshileds other than Rain-X?  Even treated, it's hard for me to see in the mirrors in heavy rain although the wipers keep the ahead view clear.  Maybe a set of the little headlight wipers like they put on Mercedes to cover the bottom side orf each windshield?

I don't believe there's a reasonable location which will put them - especially the left one - in the wiper arc and still show the side of the coach.  As an object lesson, get a mirror and a stepladder.  Set the mirror on a step, or tape it to the side of the ladder, at windshield height.  Now place it such that you can from the driver's seat and through the wiper arc see the side of the coach in the mirror.  I believe it's gonna be waaaaay out in front of the coach.

Can you see out of the side windows when it is raining? On most cars you look through the door windows to see the mirrors.

You're looking out the side as it is.  I'll check the nixt time I'm driving in the rai, you might could relocate them to see them ou the toll window - I don't know if it is as obscured as the windshiled sides cos I never noticed.

Johnny, I think this might be a good place to try side cams. Maybe use wireless rearview cams ($20-ish) if you already have a dvd screen on board. I'll wait for an android or ipad app using cheap ip cams.

I don't have a screen in the coach.  However even adding one might well be cheeeper than installing a set of Men's Mall small wipers.  The concern I'd have is rainwater blowing onto the camera lens.

Anybody with side cams, how do they do in the wet??

I don't know if there is a cam being sold as a sidecam yet. It seems it'd be easy to adapt cheap, waterproof rearview cams, though. Maybe mount them on the mirror or even on the top gutter rail.

I've used $5 usb cams to watch/log suspension and undercarriage issues on cars. I also use them to watch equipment in crawlspaces and attics. Anyway, for $5, I might just fix a window clip and see how it holds up in the rain.

Spray is a concern, though I'm betting it can be set to work at least as well as the rearview cams being used now.

The Remco mirror mounts have space to thread wires through them, clipped on the mirror would be the move.  I'll go looking, I need to pull wires (Found out I have electric mirrors that were never connected) and I can pull a piece of vid cable at the same time.

I've NOT used this vendor yet, Johnny, but go to http://www.lightinthebox.com/ and search on rear view cameras. They were advertising on Amazon, that's all I know about them. But they have a pretty good assortment of waterproof cams. Some of them have a smaller footprint that might work out well on a mirror bracket.

wouldn't you then need wipers on the camera??

I don't see the issue, no car on the road has wipers for the mirrors, you're always looking through the wet side windows at the mirror.

G'day,

Double Trouble has Lumina arms on it and I've adjusted the wipers to swing as far to the left as possible.

At highway speed I've noted that the driver side has a tendency to lift off the windshield.

If I'm reading Johnny correctly, the wet side windows are the problem. He can't see the mirrors enough to use them in bad weather. If a small camera were placed facing to the coach's rear and the lens shielded, he'd be able to see the side view on a monitor inside.

The issue is, I'm looking through a wet side wiondow which blows clear in the Toadstone or the Ranger or the Caravan.  On the GMC, I'm looking through the lower side of the windshield which is covered with ALL the water which hit that side, and I can't see the g-d mirrors.  Simple, really :)

Rain-X on the GMC windshield almost makes wipers irrelevant and makes it so
