I have a used pod that I am considering installing. I am constantly chasing water leaks and am finding it hard to drill even more holes in the roof. The stupid question is, do you think it might be possible to glue the pod on with some kind of heavy duty structural glue? With all the great stuff out there it seems like it could work. I could still throw a couple of straps over for extra security.
Just wondering...thanks

I took mine off this past year. It had lag bolts with rubber washers
between the Pod and the Roof plus a rubber washer between the bolt head and
pod. They had put a lot of silicone on the bolt top inside the pod. Took
this off = cleaned the coach top and underside of the pod. Bought a larger
dia. lag bolt and took a rubber grounding strap and cut and drilled a hole
in the rubber pads - took a poly urethane black and dabbed the hole set the
pod on top with the new rubber spacers between the pod and roof - tightened
the lags then dabbed the top of the lag bolts with the Poly urethane. We
live in Rain country - LOTS of Rain in the North West - no leaks.

So is it possible or isn't it?

no

It may be possible but not worth it.

not a good idea. Four bolts verses the damage of glueing, strapping it on would be better than that.

I would use the 4 bolt holes if you have a gmc they should be there still somehow.

One question is do you need a pod. The one person that puts it all in the back has a great design
being on the top is dangerous the more you grow older. I have a pod but it is in the way to put solar cells on the roof as well.

If you have leaks i would fix them with stuff from west marine. I lived on a boat and you can find stuff that works.

The pressure from airspeed is very high as well. increase the speed by two the force against the pod is by four.

The entropy of the air pressure, sun, rain and cold, glue is better used sniffing. joke.

the lid of the pod is a good place to put a solar cell on the top with extra structure.

I don't think any anchors were supplied by GM as they didn't supply pods.
My 77 didn't come with any. I drilled holes and used the rubber expansion anchors commonly called well nuts. I used the ones with 1/4" bolts. The rubber seals the hole when it is tightened.

My pod was installed using rivnuts. I like Emery's method of using wellnuts better because they are self sealing. The PO of my coach used 1/4" rivnuts and silicone sealer on the fender washers, inside the pod. It leaked like a sieve when it rained hard. I removed the bolts, one side at a time, and placed vinyl hose washers between the roof and the pod, at each of the rivnuts. That solved the problem.

I'm not sure I would trust any sort of adhesive as a stand alone method of installation. I would think that some sort of mechanical fastening system must be used.
