Drove with Cal Terry and Jim Bounds delivering the CABANA to it's owners in LA. Then picked up a GMC in LA with JimB and drove it to Orlando in 50 hours (never going faster than 65 MPH). Left Orlando on WED. PM and returned Tues PM. Long ride, will let JimB write it up.

Do it on a motorcycle in under 50/100 hours, and the Iron Butt group will
give you an award.

Actually, I'm starting to crawl out of the bag after that. Other than price, I cannot imagine why a reasonable man would choose any driving machine other than a GMC! That Dodge vhassis, solid front axle, duely, bread truck chassis with a brick loaded up there is a total hunk of crap compared to the run coming back in Rick F. GMC. Took 4 days out with stopping to get the *&&^%%$$&*((*&^% alternator fixed but only 2 days back to Orlando in the GMC-- just hammering the rock! Got my highway Mojo back, had been so long since I did any driving like that I was scared I couldn't do it anymore. Took some warming up, could not even lay down over those duely wheels in the back-- you would be thrown off the bed! Wind noise? Coul not hope to hear your cell phone ring!
You really need to do something like this to appreciate your GMC, maybe then you would go ahead and spend what's needed to keep it running well! They are just worth everything compared to anything else out there, even the Argosy I have can't hold a candle to the GMC out on the road. No brag, just fact!
If you don;t believe what I say, I'll set you up with a white knuckle run yourself--- good luck with tat. Yea, I am glad I did it-- may not do it again,
Jim Bounds

Sounds like the Cannonball Baker Sea to shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash.
But the speeds were much slower.

As I always tell anyone who is interested enough to listen: The GMC was designed to be a traveling machine. It was (is) designed for the "going." Other motorhomes are designed for the "staying" after you get there.
Just depends on what is important to you.
