I've been doing to searching on the forum, to keep from asking questions that I'm sure you all have answered a 100 times already. I get this error sometimes:

"You have followed an invalid link. Please notify the webmaster how you got here."

Any ideas? Are some forum entries archived or something?

Thanks,
Galen

Galen,

This is not uncommon, but it is fortunately relatively rare.
What often happens is an extra character is accidentally included in the link URL. As it is often a period (IT people call it a dot) or a forward slash at the end of the link URL, it is easy if you collect the URL by highlighting then collecting (ctrl-C) and then paste (ctrl-V) it to an open address and fix the end character. On this site, it is also worth your while to read down the thread and look for where another repaired the link.

All of the recent forum traffic is archived, but Google has a hard time with a Boolean search so it can be tedious to use.

Matt

Thanks Matt. I'm not sure this is the same problem you outlined.

Here is the URL for a link that works:

http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&rid=0&th=21796&goto=171822

Here is a URL that gives that error:
http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&rid=0&th=2618&goto=15630

I'm not seeing anything formatted incorrectly, but maybe I'm missing something.

No, the problem isn't rare. I get it frequently when I'm searching for older threads.

I assumed that the forum setup had been changed some time in the past and that all the old threads lacked redirects to the moved thread. That's where I see this type of errors in forums most often.
