Can I just have it filled the same way a barbeque tank would be, or am I going to have to find someone with that special connector?

Phill,
Steve's answer was correct, but a little incomplete.
I will assume you are going to get the tank filled while it is mounted in the coach.
Most places that can fill portable (barbeque) tanks can fill an installed tank. The fitting for doing so is common, but the knowledge of how to do it is not so common.
The is a little screw in valve near the top of the tank and I may have a tag that says, "Must be open for filling". This is a level bleed that should leak gas when opened, but show will show liquid when the fill level is reached. That is to leave the required expansion space in the tank. Not rocket surgery...
If the tank is now empty and you have never filled it. I suggest you plan to have the attendant put in just an half a gallon, and then you can take some time to inspect for leaks with bubble stuff. (Make your own or buy, but don't use window or other spray cleaner, they don't bubble well.) Mine had a bad leak at the gauge. I got that stopped, but the tank still seems to loose about a pound per month and I can't find it.

there may be different rules per state,
when I went to get mine filled the local place that does the barbeque tanks could not (or would not fill it) he went by weight, had to be able to put tank on scales.
I found on craigs list a place that claimed to fill based on gallons I think it was. He knew to open the top valve thing and fill til some came out this valve, . To me it seemed stranged, but it cost me 24 dollars to fill my tank . Gauge on tank went from empty to full.
I also heard there was a tax difference if filling built in tanks versus barbe que tanks.

There should not be a tax difference as long as your engine doesn't run off propane. For example, at Flying J, I had someone ask me if my engine ran off the tank. I told him no. So he did not add the Federal and State road taxes.

Here in San Diego I go to the local propane filling station.
Some sell only propane others also sell gas and diesel.
I like the one stop place.
The cost was around $2.75 per gallon.
