Here's the draft notice I just sent for possible inclusion in the pending
GMCDL newsletter:

=============================================
Deriso Farms is a 249 acre "playground" 7 miles south of Ellaville, GA,
belonging to my aunt. It's all wooded (some fairly recently clear-cut)
with a barn, a 3-bedroom cabin, a "smokehouse" utility building, a catfish
pond, and a bass and bream pond. At the barn we have 3 full hookup sites,
and 15 amp connections for another 3-4 coaches. I'll have mowed dry
camping sites for another 50+ coaches. We'll reserve the full hookup sites
for those who truly need them for health reasons, everyone else will choose
their own site. There is a dump station but the septic tank is the
smallest the building code would allow 15 years ago because it was only to
serve a single rarely used toilet -- please arrive with empty tanks and
plan to leave full. :-)

This will be a no-host, no-plans rally. Relaxation, fishing, hiking, jeep
or JD Gator riding, BS'ing, and card playing will probably be the primary
events. Y'All come! (No, I can't promise we won't have another flood.)
=============================================

For those who don't know, we had a similar rally after the last Dothan
Convention. Unfortunately, when the caravan headed for the farm left
Dothan, a tornado warning was in effect and the torrential rain in progress
made its arrival seem imminent. Our planned route was through what turned
out to be a flooded swamp and we had to disconnect toads to turn around and
find another route. We eventually reached the farm a couple of hours late.
The rain there wasn't bad and we had a good time for a couple of days, but
the Dothan weather discouraged a lot of people from joining us. Hopefully,
the weather will be better this time. We SHOULD have nice, warm, sunny,
Spring is in the air, weather. Great conditions for dry camping.

I failed to mention in the notice above, but the area is somewhat hilly --
except for that where we'll be camping. That area is mostly wide, shady,
and grassy roadways through the woodlands of the farm. The ponds are no
longer regularly stocked, as they were until my uncle died a few years ago,
but they're also rarely fished by anyone -- even me (I own a GMC so don't
have time for such trivial pursuits).

The farm is about 115 miles NE of the Convention site
at 32.175378,-84.386771. That's the barn. The bass pond is just north of
there and the catfish pond a little west of there. The cabin's completely
hidden under the trees between the two. I suspect it would be visible in a
current photo because some trees were recently trimmed for the new
satellite dish's benefit. As you can see, it's an attractive location.
Y'All come enjoy it with us.

Ken H.

Ken, I have read this twice and may have missed this. Is it before or after the convention? I am assuming after, like last time. We had so much fun getting there. I would not trade that memory for anything. I am glad we drove in the down pour and had to unhook toads to get turned around, during blinding rain. Makes me smile every time I think about that trip. Teri and I will miss it this time. Anyone who can go, needs to follow Ken and Elaine to the site. They are the best hosts for a no host rally I have ever attended. This is an awesome site to spend a few days.

Dan,

Post-Convention, as opposed to Pre-Convention. :-)

I'm not sure I can tolerate that answer -- You've GOT to bring Teri!

LOL, why did I not read "post"? Been a long day. I will chat with Teri about it. WE are pretty much tied up with this part time job. There are only 3 officers and when two of us are gone it puts a hardship on the one left. I can say it really does not bother me but Teri thinks a little different than I do. We hope to get loose from this job just before Branson and hit the road again. I like blogging about our travels.
