The one in NW Ohio for $6500 may be worth checking out. Also, the search picked up one in Omaha with a transposition in the date, so it may not get much ad traffic even at $3800.

There are two projects here in Columbia I have looked at. I had already purchased the birchaven and was looking for something a little more turn-key, I have additional pics on my other PC I can post if anyone is interested.

One was modified 73 that sold on ebay for 4500 but the buyer backed out because of the wording of the ad. It should say more plainly that it needs tires and battery - and probably a few more things - but, it has been repainted. Was owned by a local "enthusiast" who added a few non-factory options like an additional heater core for the cabin. The idea of the extra core was good if the execution left a bit to be desired. Has the passenger bench seat.

The other is a 77 that is part of an estate sale:

This coach was repainted by Golby and has had the engine rebuilt, but has been sitting for a few years, as the owner hadn't used it much before he passed. There are leaks and water damage that has been left unchecked, so it will need a lot of tlc. The estate is currently asking 7k, but they will entertain offers - for the right price this one could be made nice.

76 Birchaven - "Wicked Mistress" - New engine, trans, alum radiator, brakes, Sully airbags, fuel lines, seats, adult beverage center... those Coachmen guys were really thinking about us second hand owners by including that beverage center... Columbia, SC.

The "1987 GMC Motor Home - $3800 (Omaha, NE)" ad looks "fishy."

<http://omaha.craigslist.org/rvs/3615660512.html>

It has one picture of a picture of a Palm Beach and one picture of a 1978 Rear Bath Birchaven. I expect the coach that is for sale is the Birch as it is half covered with a tarp sitting in what looks like a junk pile. I also question the "sleeps 6."

I've never been to Omaha, and the ad says the unit is covered in tarps "for the winter". Are the trees that green in Omaha in February? And I thought the winters in SC were mild...

On the plus side, if the picture is anywhere close to recent, it looks to have good paint.

>fishy

When the ad first went up it only had the glamor shot and really set off alarms. The addition of the tarp-n-junk photo does make it seem more genuine.

>marketing

Or lazy. Being lazy usually costs a seller.

>Omaha in February

Global warming? What I love are the photos date-stamped "2008"
But from my past webzine publishing experience, using a photo that doesn't show a strong seasonal influence is the best. I used to specify to the freelance troops that there be no lush spring foliage or dead, stick- limbed trees.

The add says the Palm Beach is a picture of what GMC's looked like when new. From the picture it's a 26' Royale of some kind.

From the stripes, color and placement of the windows, refer opening and LP compartment, it is a 1978 Birchaven Rear Bath (23 foot) ... just like the one in my yard.

OK, you MIGHT call it the 23 foot "kind" of Royale.

The stripes you can see in the pictures actually looks fairly good.... for 35 year old stripes!
