Hi Everybody.
Buying my first GMC, It is a 1975 Avion. She has 70k mileage, and is in mint condition.
It has a number of aftermarket renovations add over the years.
I estimate the value at about 15k. I am worried that when my insurance company said “Appraised Value Only” they me we will give you 2k. What Insurances companies do you guys use, and why?

I'd be sure to get an appraisal from JimK at Applied GMC, and then contact the insurance people that Jim Bounds recommends to check for coverage (contact Cheryl or Marlene at Miller Insurance 800-622-6347 and tell them Jim sent you).
I have mine covered through State Farm simply because I do have many other personal and business policies through them, but they don't offer any special RV insurance coverage for vintage motorhomes. Progressive used to, but I understand they've discontinued offering agreed value insurance.
This topic has been covered before, so if there is any new information that you find, please share it with the group.

I think that's still on a state-by-state basis. As recently as 2 months ago, I could get true Agreed Value through Progressive here in NC.

That's correct. There is a lot of <conspiracy theory>what I believe to be insurance misinformation </conspiracy theory> at the sales level where Stated Value is sold as Agreed Value. I have the good fortune of having grown up with one of the officers of a large regional agency so I had him cut through the crap for me. What it boils down to, at least with Progressive here in NC, if you aren't required to provide a formal appraisal then it ain't Agreed Value.

Welcome to the Group/Family/Cult/Asylum.....
You can probably trust your insurance agent to look out for you interests more (slightly) than you congressman.
To my knowledge, there are only two companies writing Agreed Value policies on antique motorhomes. Agreed Value is the only type of policy that will actually cover the loss well enough to actually replace a destroyed coach.
You got the contact for Miller, and the other is Allied. Allied is a branch of Nationwide, but not all agencies are able to work with them. All will require an appraisal. If you coach is in decent shape, the only way it can be appraised is to project the cost of taking what can be found and making it as good as you have now..... <Hang On>
As I try to warn people, you will soon find that this coach is more than just another thing you own, it and the community will become a part of your life. I have been a waterman all my life and to me, it seems just like the way we relate to our boat and the community, that caused me to start welcoming new owners as we would a new owner or vessel. So,

JimK was very helpful
I did find one company so far that will take JimK Appraisal.
The Company is http://www.foremost.com/ they will do an agreed value with an Appraisal and Pictures.
Progressive Has stopped doing agreed value, on anything over 10 years.
I can't wait to get her on the road, it is a 75 Avion with all original interior.

Yes, I too am a waterman, I built boats for a long time, including working on the 64 foot aluminum Chris-Craft. I have always wanted a Land-Yacht, now I have one.

I have my insurance from National Interstate, Great American Insurance Group.
They do a lot of bus conversions and are used to giving agreed value.
I have a $45,000 agreed value policy with them backed up with the appraisal from Jim Kanomata.
My current cost is $702 per year. Without the agreedvalue it would be $652.
I went through a broker after Progressive stopped doing agreed value in New Mexico.
I can post the broker's name and phone number if anyone wants it. I have to look it up in my file.

If your ex-US Military you can get agreed value insurance for your GMC through USAA:

Hmmmm, I'd better qualify that statement. Due to the fact that we only use Double Trouble for 3-4 months during the summer we buy
insurance when we arrive and cancel it when we leave. LAST YEAR I got agreed value insurance through USAA by providing an appraisal
of Double Trouble from Jim Bounds. I have not applied for insurance for this summer.

Which I've still got "stated value" -- I wouldn't let them hand me off to
"Regressive". I really should just change companies, but after being with
USAA since 1954, it's hard to change.

That sounds like a good rate. New Mexico is higher because of the high percentage of drivers with no insurance. Colorado is also higher but I haven't transferred the insurance yet so I don't know the amount.
