Very professional job RC.
You guys with those '73s and early '74s need to compare your lower
control arms with those in the photos. If they match, you are in trouble.
The first couple of photos show the cobbled up reinforcements that were
most likely accomplished by dealerships. The reason I suspect this is
because no two are alike and I've seen a lot of them. It is far less labor
intensive to locate a good pair of Eldo/Toro automobile lower control arms
and reinforce them like the later factory ones are, than it is to remove
all the phweet the dealerships welded on and then accomplish the
reenforcement and stiffening.

Here is a look at the control arms on my 73...they appear different when you are under the coach and trying to photograph -- and you can't get everything in the photo.

Dennis,
Those are original and have the cobbled up tip reenforcements and steering
stops welded to the sides of the tips. Chances are (not shown in the
photos) good that they do not have the stiffeners in each of the 4 bushing
ends either. By early 1974, GM had figured out that those stiffeners were
absolutely necessary.

Pg 20 has a pic of the '73's, note the open gap where the bushing ear is
Pg 39 shows the reenforcement needed
Pg 42 shows how to insert and weld the reenforcement
Also missing on the '73s are the tip reenforcements
Pg 43 shows early tip reenforcements you can make yourself from angle iron
and follow through to the end for installation, drilling for 3/8 hardware
and shock stud reenforcement.
