It's side bath. A bit of an ugly duckling at the moment. Due to my situation mechanical soundness had to win over beauty. I'll only have about 3 weeks to refit her before a 2500 mile trip to Texas. Once I make to Texas, she'll get a good makeover and update.
Current owner is Bryan Wheat who is the son of Don Wheat. He is the guy who tried to resurrect the GMC Motorhome a while back.
Truthfully I don't quite own it yet. I test drove it Sunday and I was bitten,....hard. Most likely agreed to pay to much. Put down a deposit. Waiting for my house to close mid March.
I don't have any add-on air. Just the OEM and 1 rooftop.

Got to get rid of that carpet and restore the rear cabin. Found a restore album in Flicker that resembles what I want to do with her.

That HH-1 you're looking at is Hehr H695 and can be found cheaper. I got them for about $15 on Amazon (had to wait for a price drop though to get them that cheap). i have not tried to install them yet so I can't verify whether they are the right part, though they seem to be.. But don't pay $25 for those. Applied GMC also carries the latches and I believe they quoted me $20 each last year.

I agree with $25 being too much. Thanks for the Hehr part number. Found same for as little as $14.

While it does look like the latch fastens to the window the same as the OEM, I am not sure it will work without other modifications. I would like to see the other side of the latch.

Oh, you are absolutely right - I should have read more carefully through the thread. The Hehr H695 latches are for the living room and bedroom windows. The cockpit latches are different and from what I understood when I was looking for replacements, there are no third-party replacements. Applied GMC had them, but they were very pricey. We wound up lucking out and getting a pair from Phil Hernandez's parts coach.

JoeC wrote on Wed, 13 February 2013 19:03 | Thanks Mike. I am still looking. I suppose the best thing to do is call the Coop and see if they have the latches or advise what we can use and where we can find them. I need six of them.
|
Six?
Must need more than just the cockpit windows. (I thought the thread was about the cockpit window latches.)
Just to make things clear:
All cockpit windows and the early (1973 to mid 1975) windows aft of the cockpit used the first type latch. This latch has two screws that go THOUGH HOLES in the window glass. These are not being made and are hard to find. I am not sure if anything currently available could be made to work... let the rest of us know if you find something. You might be able to find someone scrapping a parts coach or replacing early style windows.
Mid-1975 the windows (aft of the cockpit) changed to the Hehr windows most of us have. (It was a good change.) I THINK the latches are still being made.
There are some non-OEM replacement windows but you'd most likely know if you had them.
In any case, call JimB or JimK to get the correct latch the first time at, if not the best price, very close.
