Interesting... I can see many applications for this, but I think it would be problematic for use in the GMC.
Think of where the line of the axles to the center of the front wheels. If you put the differential centered on the front wheels, the engine would be sticking out the front grill.
While not "impossible" it would require more changes than I would want to even think about!

I was thinking it would still need to be turned around to the same configuration and i have no idea what sort of heroic re-engineering that would take.
But it is a big beefy transaxle.
